I now think the 'chatty introvert' applies to me too now that you have explained it. I am a shy person around strangers but when I'm with friends,I can talk the hind legs off a donkey...

"Introverts typically recharge their batteries by withdrawing from interactions with others and spending time alone, often doing solitary things they enjoy, like reading or listening to music."
Me to a T. I can strike up a conversation with anyone and do all the time. I enjoy it. But, after prolong interaction with people I need to crawl off back to my lair. I've no problem being alone for days at a time. People can be exhausting.

Me too!!! I'm very chatty and strike up conversations with strangers all the time. I'm not socially aggressive at all so in large social groups I'm never the center of attention - not that I want to be. I need a lot of time alone though and when I don't get my alone time for a while I can get grouchy or even depressed.

I need a lot of time alone though and when I don't get my alone time for a while I can get grouchy or even depressed. Because I typically have dozens of sets of eyes on me all day long (if they're paying attention) and I am interacting with so many people in a responsible role I really need my down time when I first get home. I try to go into the kitchen and start working on dinner right away while I watch the news in the next room, and not engage too much socially. If you wanna see grouchy, meet me at the door like a little puppy when I get home...

But if mr elophile gets all needy on me first thing after work it takes all my strength not to be cranky with him. I've gotten used to him playing loud, strange music first thing and I can usually tolerate that.
