I'm in shock, still hoping its not true. Prince was a brilliant singer/musician, his 21 nights in London back in 2007 is still one of the best gigs I've ever been to. RIP

So very sad, what a superb artist, producer and songwriter he was.
There is still nothing like 1999 and Little Red Corvette to name but a few.
RIP Prince.

He was a genius who gave us some of the most memorable pop songs ever. "Purple Rain" is a masterpiece.
He was an amazing guitar player, too. Check out his blazing solo at the end of this performance of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", from George Harrison's RRHOf induction(featuring Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne, among others).

The passing of both Victoria Wood and Prince has completely poleaxed me, I wasn't ready to consider losing either of them and they both had years and years of creativity to come.
Prince in particular was a total one-off, he never compromised on his music even when most of the world seemed to be laughing at him. And he released some solid gold classic songs which will never date or be forgotten. It's a small crumb of comfort to suppose that he lived his life to the full and exactly the way he wanted to, even if it was unfairly cut short. RIP.

I was never drawn to Prince's music, but gee... he was 2 years younger than I am!
Artists are departing left, right & center.

I am profoundly saddened by the death of Prince. When I heard the news yesterday, I broke out my Prince CD's and indulged myself, all the while crying and smiling thinking of the great memories the songs brought back.
If Michael Jackson was Elvis, then Prince was Lennon/MCcartney. I love his music and will miss him enormously.

if the radio reports are true there is enough recorded items to see new releases for years to come, such a talent, such a shame. RIP

Love the guy catching him and pushing him back on stage. Can't imagine Jeff doing that
