I thought a thread was needed where we could all confession anything we've been keeping secret from everyone else on the forum. Little things that we think might make us bad ELO fans but we aren't ashamed to admit yet we will readily hold our hands up to.
I'll begin as an example - The first time I saw Bev I thought he was a girl.
There, I've said it! Throw sticks at me! But I have an excuse:
On BBC4's Jeff Lynne Night, when the Mr Blue Sky doc premiered (October 2012), I was a complete ELO novice. After watching the doc I completely fell head over heels for Jeff once I knew what a genius and thoroughly nice bloke he turned out to be. After the programme I was sufficiently in love enough carry on and watch the Wembley Concert that came on straight after. It was late at night, I probably didn't have my glasses on, my mother asked me "is that a lass on drums?", I had never seen another member of ELO at this point and Bev was mostly shot by the camera from the back. He had long hair. Therefore I thought he was a girl for at least three songs! Hey, ELO might have been big on equality, I wasn't to know!

2012? That's amazing! Upside you only had 5 years to see Jeff and Richard.

It was long enough! Especially when you are convinced it'll never happen.
Anyway, I feel like I've loved Jeff my whole life, only I didn't know it .

It's surprising how girly Bev can look, he was probably the most muscular and manly out of all of them too. I once saw a pic of him and Jeff standing together, when I didn't know who was properly who, and thought to meself "ew, Jeff's girlfriend's not a looker, I might be in with a chance"

I still feel bad about this one, but here goes. When Clog Dance was in the charts, I remember standing at the counter of the grocer's shop looking through the singles they stocked in a cardboard box. (We didn't have a proper record shop in my town. Times were 'ard back then. But I digress.) Counting my hard-earned twopence-three-farthings, I decided I could only afford one single. Which was it to be? The choice came down to two, one of which was Clog Dance. I still remember holding the disc in my hands, with its Jet records label. And, shame on me, I chose another single. (Although I like to think I've made up for my lapse since then. ) In my defence, the single I did buy that day was Halfway Hotel, by Voyager. A band who went on to support ELO and did very well, according to noted rock critic Mr Horacewimp .

When I first heard ELO I thought they were an American band, imagine my delight when I eventually found they were from Birmingham UK.

I'd like to take him shopping for better hats...
I worked at a fancy hat shop, and always hoped he'd walk in some day...

When I was a boy I signed my copy of the Discovery sheet music book with "signatures" of Jeff and the band.I told my schoolfriends that I met them while on holiday in Germany.

Throw sticks at you? Bev was throwing his sticks at you at the end of every gig....
