There may have been a poll at some point, but lets discuss.... is side two of Time the best side of any ELO album. For the record (pardon the pun) I reckon it is.
Side 1 of ANWR comes close, as does side 1 of FTM, but Time side 2 is full of cracking songs.
Next question, has anyone managed to work out what all of the news stories are in HITN

Nothing tops Concerto for a Rainy Day for me. Regarding Time, I was never a huge fan anyway, and even still I feel side one edges out side two, even though I love Rain Is Falling and 21st Century Man.

I would say side 2 is better because it doesn't have " Another Heart Breaks". The only clunker on the album.
But I have to say that Concerto For a Rainy Day is my favorite side. Although Time is my favorite album.

I dont get this Concerto for a Rainy Day love in. Wouldnt be my top 5 sides. In fact, I prefer side 1 OOTB to side 3.
Sorry

Although Time is my favorite album. I actually like Another Heart Breaks more than The Lights Go Down (please don't kill me!), but I agree, as much as I love instrumentals from most bands, Jeff rarely seemed to be able to pull them off ( After All is absolutely beautiful, though). I dont get this Concerto for a Rainy Day love in. Wouldnt be my top 5 sides. In fact, I prefer side 1 OOTB to side 3. Sorry That's fine, I'm just a sucker for orchestration, that's why Eldorado is one of my favourites as well. That's the reason why I love the band, Jeff's masterful songwriting combined with the dense arrangements. Time had the former, but I personally feel it's missing half of what makes ELO's music so addictive and timeless. Time was always just a bit too far down the pop avenue for me anyway, although that being said I adore Twilight. Still a great album though, just not personally my favourite.

Side 1 of Xanadu is better than side 2 of Xanadu... That's not really saying a lot though, is it? A bit like saying turd smells better than puke.

Eldorado side two, Xanadu side 1, Discovery side 1 or side 2 for me.
I can't agree with the second side of Time because it excludes 'Twilight'.

Both sides of Time are perfect. I absolutely love Another Heart Breaks. It was ahead of its time, completely encapsulates the theme and futuristic mood of the album and reminds me of Kraftwerk which is a very good thing indeed.
I would've liked to have sneaked Julie Don't Live Here on there somewhere too.
And Hold on Tight may have been an afterthought but it's fantastic and even better as an end of dream album track.
What I wouldn't give to get my hands on the multitracks.

Another Heart Breaks is really the only song I forward (when can)and The Lights Go Down is shaky. Twilight makes side 1 the best if pushed.

I think The Lights go down is a fantastic melody, although the arrangement lets it down a bit.

I just can't believe Julie and When Time Stood Still didn't make the album. They fit the story so much better than Hold On Tight and News and are much better songs. If things had been a bit different it could have been close to my all time fav album.

Well hopefully when the much rumoured re-re-re-releases finally see the day Time will be issued with the extra tracks slotted into their correct places on the album.
