Hey Guys, looks like PowWow has not been online since Nov. 24, so I'll put it in this week.
Ric Ocasek "Nexterday". It's awesome! Why he didn't give it the full Cars treatment with the band, I have no idea, but for a home-spun record, it has all the pop genius in full swing, IMHO.
***Update on my above sentence: I played a radio interview about it yesterday, and he said the songs were very personal so that's why he wanted to do all the instruments himself.
His only solo album where I thoroughly enjoy playing the whole thing through and then want to play it again. Hope you guys dig it as well. I may do a breakdown of the songs, but for now, let me give it a solid 9 out 10, for my part.
Crackpot
Bottom Dollar
Don't Lose Me
In a Little Bit
Silver
Come On
I'm Thinkin'
Carousel
Heard About You
Please Don't Let Me Down
It Gets Crazy
Jim

Ric Ocasek? I know he was in the Cars but that's about it. I don't even know much of the Cars to be honest.

Strangely enough, the song sounds a lot like David Bowie. I'm sure Ric Ocasek was influenced by him.
It's different from his songs with The Cars. It seems to borrow more from 70's glam than 80's new wave.

Well I must declare my bias. I'm gonna have a huge soft spot for this ...my first ever picture disk was 'best friend's girl' and Cars have had a massive influence on Weezer which I will always love them for.
First time of hearing, I immediately like it. Everything in the right place, the distinctive voice, a smart tight little song. 'Bottom Dollar' the next track is even better in my opinion.
Thank you for posting this. I had completely forgotten about the Cars and Ric Ocasek On the strength of these two tracks alone, I will buy this album and it is sure to be in my car for a long time!

Hey, sorry HW and Platypus, I didn't see your message, where did you put it, my inbox? OK, yeah, sorry if that's OK with everyone, I didn't realize HW already took the reigns so figured instead of just wait until midweek, I'd do mine and move myself to the end of the queue, and I put PowWow in my place in case they return. I put a video of all the songs, there, hopefully most of them will come through for everyone.
The song "Silver" is a personal song to Benjamin Orr, the other Cars lead singer who died a while back from pancreatic cancer.
The whole album is pretty personal to Ric, so he did every instrument by himself, just for one song he had a drummer and for a couple other songs he used Cars keyboardist Greg Hawkes, I think actually for guitar on "Carousel" if I remember correctly.

Maybe for the next one we can PM each other to make sure we're on the same page, and if necessary, I can just stay out of your way to let you handle it! Jim

Yet another artist I've always meant to explore further, thanks for giving me the chance on a plate His other albums have an OK song here or there, but this one is good through and through, IMHO. Jim
