Hi, Thanks for accepting me into the group, it looks a great site! I hope to contribute quite a lot in the future.
I have been collecting ELO for the past 40 years and built up a vast vinyl and memorabilia collection. I have my own website outoftheblueartifacts.com It contains a collection of my local industrial collection of history and is used as an historic resource for historians etc though I have added my vast ELO collection to it. Use the drop down menus to navigate the different ELO sections and you can click on the image to enlarge it and utilise the zoom-in features (X top right) on all images. I hope you will find it of interest. I own everything on the site and is 40 years in the making.

So, this is you!! Trouble putting my eyes back in my head when I first saw your site. I started collecting 45's, albums, and magazine advertisements last February. I've learned so much about ELO from your's and other sites, like Jon Lock's. He's been very helpful. My sister told me something was wrong when I'd rather go to records shows than clothes shopping. Priority's.

Thanks for your link ootbartifacts - that really is a wonderful piece of work and I hope you feel rightly proud of it!
I was pleased to see (when browsing the 12" Singles section) the appearance of the rarely mentioned and even less often seen, Shine A Little Love in black vinyl. Many people acquired a copy of the white vinyl single but that was of course, by far the more common version in this format. It takes me back to the mid 1980's, many years after the single was actually released and I was browsing in a vinyl 'bargain clearance' section in my local Woolworths. To my great surprise I came across a shrink-wrapped copy of the Shine A Little Love 12" single and, from a glimpse at the open edge of the sleeve, it appeared to be a black vinyl pressing. I didn't even know that a black vinyl pressing existed and I thought it might be a mis-pressing, so I bought it - for 99p!
Many years later and I was in need of some dreaded car repair cash so I did what I don't like to do too often and put in on ebay (forgive me!). I expected to make somewhere between £10 and £15 on a good day but was stunned to finally sell it for very nearly 100 times what I originally paid for it! I have never made such a dramatic profit on ebay before or since but I still wish I hadn't done it. Even more though, back in that bargain rack in Woolworths all those years ago, there was actually a second copy but I'd decided that buying just the one was enough!!
Anyway, I congratulate you again on both your collection and the way in which we can all now see and enjoy it too. I have a fairly substantial collection of ELO items myself but as a private collection it remains hidden. You've shown me the way and I will start using this section of the forum to post some pictures in the new year.

Good place as any. Been meaning to ask you soonerorlater, who's autographs on your avatar? I see what I think is Bev's?

Yes BSJ that is a 16" Remo Weather King drum skin, pretty well battered by Bev. I successfully bid on it at a charity auction 20 years ago. The idea was that it would be personally dedicated to me by a member of the band (ELO Part II) and signed by the rest of them. I had to wait a while as they were on tour at that time but sure enough, this is what arrived in the mail one day! Touchingly, it's been personalised for me by Kelly and also signed by Bev, Louis, Mik and Eric Troyer and Phil Bates. For me, although I'm biased, that was the best line up of ELO Part II by some way.
I had a customised box frame made to hold it exactly in place and that is where it has remained to this day!

How much did the box frame cost, soonerorlater ? If you don't mind my asking. I have an autographed drum skin from another band but can't think what to do with it. I'd cry if the autograph faded!

Sorry for the delay in replying - I've had a couple of concerts distracting me!!
It was actually back in late 1994/early 1995 and I recall taking it to a specialist framer who had to build it from scratch. His aim was to make the fit tight enough to hold the skin permanently in place but, not so tight that it started to warp. He did a fantastic job. If my memory does indeed serve me right it was around the £30 mark. Twenty years or so later I guess you could add another £15 to £20 to that price if you had it done today.

Different sleeve versions of Turn To Stone - French pressings I recently acquired. Subtle differences but one to watch out for. Attachment Deleted
