Right, my first post on here. Looks like a tour next May is pretty much nailed on. So what would everyone fancy seeing as a set list. I'd rather have a few old album tracks than just a greatest hits but i'm expecting hyde park + new songs. This would be my ideal set list, based on the new songs Ive heard so far.
Prologue Twilight Alone in the Universe 10538 overture So fine Steppin Out Here is the news Turn to Stone All over the world
Acoustic section, JL+RT
Strange Magic Telephone line One Summer Dream
Full band again
Secret Messages Moment in paradise Sweet talkin woman When the night comes Shine a little love 21st century man When I was a boy Wild west hero Boy blue Eldorado
Encore Livin thing Dont bring me down Mr blue sky Roll over beethoven

If there was to be 25 songs in a show, I would hope to see 15 Greatest Hits, 5 off the new album, and 5 surprises.
In my dreamworld the 5 surprises would be:
Fire On High (Imagine opening with this motherf****r!!) Hello My Old Friend (I said it was my dreamworld, ok?) Endless Lies (This would kick ass live, towards the end of the show. "This one is for you, Roy.") Poorboy (The Greenwood) (It sure sounds like one of the Greatest Hits.) Something from The Idle Race era. ("This is from the sixties. It wasn't even called ELO then but nevermind.")

I love the idea of Prologue kicking things off, and of having an Idle Race song in there somewhere. I suspect that it will mostly mirror Hyde Park though, with some songs off the new album woven in. To be honest it doesn't bother me hugely what he plays, it'll just be great to see him live at last

well...Jeff did about an hour at hyde park...so....lets assume its a two hour set....
first half could easily be just the new album....would suit me...but if Jeff wanted to put half of the album in and throw other things in to....that would be good....
there are the obvious things that will be there...mr blue sky, roll over beethoven....and i know some people were questioning it...all over the world...i thought it was a stunning opener...also the inclusion of handle with care was really nice and was enjoyed greatly....so thats got to be in....telephone line (one of the two elo songs that choke me up - the other being when i was a boy)....
as these few shows will be for the more hardcore elo fan....i guess he could open with loads of different things...ma ma belle would be good...rockaria....
it would be nice to think there would be fifteen minutes set aside for a two or three acoustic numbers....so anything from the bungalow set there....
other than that...well....how nice it would be if he did california man, the rockinest rock song ever...lucky man (yep, i still find this amusing even after all these years)...fire on high....poker.....wild west hero....
but to be honest....i dont really care....IF i can get a ticket im going along and i am going to enjoy myself hugely....im so excited already.....did i say...i am soooooooooooooooo excited.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While us fans would love to see him perform our favourite album tracks it ain't gonna happen. It'll be the hits. You might get the odd surprise like he did with Steppin' Out at Hyde Park. But it'll mostly be the hits with a Traveling Wilburys song thrown in.
And speaking of the hits there are a few he could play that he didn't do at Hyde Park. Rockaria, Do Ya, Wild West Hero, Shine a Little Love; Confusion, Last Train to London, Diary of Horace Wimp, Twilight, Hold on Tight. There's a few more I could chuck in.
But I'm happy with the hits!!

A realistic expectation would be something like the Hyde Park setlist, but I'd love to see more from the '80s albums represented. Then again, I never expected Jeff to dust off All Over The World (or Steppin' Out, for that matter), so it would be fantastic if he debuted another old ELO track... The Diary Of Horace Wimp and Hello My Old Friend are my choices for deep cuts that might just send this fan over the edge into full-on hysteria!

I would love to hear Horace Wimp,Xanadu,I'm Alive,Don't Walk Away,Secret Messages and Four Little Diamonds played live just so Jeff can say that every single has been played live at some point.

I saw The Zombies perform Odyssey and Oracle live from beginning to end a couple of weeks ago.
I know it won't happen but my ultimate, fantasy set would be if Jeff would perform OOTB from beginning to end... That would be amazing!!!

Zombies started the complete O+O Live on the 40th anniversary in 2007 eh? Maybe His Jeffness will do the same for OOTB in 2017? We can dream.

Secret Messages was played once - during the soundcheck for the Zoom Tour DVD recording in 2001, I seem to recall - and can be found on the ELO Live album, though you're definitely right about the others in that list. Saying that, what about Across The Border, Stranger, Getting To The Point and So Serious? All of these were singles (well, the first was technically the lead song on a cancelled EP meant to coincide with the release of the Four Light Years boxed set), yet the last was only ever "performed" on a few television appearances, where the band lip-synced to the studio version. Also, what about Surrender and Latitude 88 North?

These comments basically point to the embarrassment of riches that is the ELO canon.

Mmmm...don't forget the most important thing: he's nearly 70, so I wouldn't expect a long setlist Another important thing to remember is that this is a TOUR and not a single live show as the Hyde Park To sum up: 16/17 songs, not more

That would be amazing!!! reckon concerto for a rainy day would be good all the way thru....its a real beatle-esque masterpiece like some of their later abbey road and let it be era....dont think there are many people who can say they came close or matched what the beatles did around then.....Jeff may just be one of them.....
