This BBC concert is joyous news.
If it's a ballot I'm definitely going to try my luck. I can't really go, it's much too short notice and I'm rather tied up, but since tickets are going to be as sparse as hen's teeth I'd rather blame chance than say I didn't even try.
It sounds as though Jeff is using this to test the waters or at least prepare his audience for more. This will be his first show alone since Hyde Park was among other artists. Will this be a Friday Night is Music Night? Specials usually are but I don't think it can be if it's going to be broadcast on a Thursday.
It's odd that this special concert won't be held in a larger venue, Jeff's shyness aside, this is probably because concert-goers aren't paying for tickets (if it is a ballot). Without paying for tickets this isn't technically a "gig" then?
A two hour show would probably take in around 17 songs, a good chunk will surely be the album.
I loved the irony (and the indignity) of Jeff being called "Sam Smith" for a short time!

I loved the irony (and the indignity) of Jeff being called "Sam Smith" for a short time! can i have your ticket please if you are successful and im not...ha ha.... seems lots of artistes play to smaller audiences like this at the beeb....but as you say...hens teeth rarity to get in....when acdc released their new album/single they did a small gig for a few hundred people where it was filmed and i reckon thats probably the idea....the beeb get a great film and some good telly out of it and a few fans get to wet their pants in front of millions of other fans....hopefully i will be one of the pant wettees....and a great opportunity to meet Jeff i would guess and get the elusive autograph....but...what to get the autograph on seeing as the new album wont be out....hmmmmm....

I loved the irony (and the indignity) of Jeff being called "Sam Smith" for a short time! No . it's not a fnimn. it's an "in concert " which are normally broadcast on a Thursday as part of jo wileys show. Loads of big artists have done them recently ie Paul weller. Coldplay etc. It will be a lottery. And probably be broadcast for an hour.(may go on longer "off air"( This is all guess work btw?

Yay! No mention of heavy security so I'm going for it As queenofthehours says, you have to say you tried. Missed the actual announcement, did he say anything mind blowing besides about the gig?
