I'm not sure if this has been discussed on here before, but I've just finished watching a fantastic documentary from 2011 on the Birmingham music scene that I'll highly recommend, which includes Bev Bevan, David Scott-Morgan and Steve Gibbons to name a few of those interviewed for it: (I've posted the first part, even though ELO doesn't really make an appearance until midway through the fourth. However, once they do, Bev makes a surprising comment regarding his preference for being with The Move, who he feels should have focused more on trying to break America...) P.S. There's also a brilliant picture gallery at the corresponding website: www.birminghammusicheritage.co.uk/flash/elo_image_gallery/elo_image_gallery.html

Great documentary. I'm going to take some time to watch all the parts. It's amazing the amount of great musicians that came from Brum. The variety.
Poor Tony Secunda seemed to get something wrong with all the bands he worked with so Bev need not regret too much, Secunda even told a prestigious magazine to "piss off" when they wanted to do a cover story on Procol Harum. I never knew before that Bev felt the Move hadn't achieved what it should.

I've heard Bev talk about Alex's Pie Stand, before. Must be a really historic spot. Although, I'm not sure about something called steak and kidney pie. Must be a very English thing.

I was referring to the opening of the photo gallery, not the actual video. It still doesn't open. It doesn’t look like that website exists anymore, I’ve found this one and a search for Electric Light Orchestra brings up a large amount of information. www.birminghammusicarchive.com/?s=Electric+light+orchestra

I know that 'Rock Family Tree - Brum beat' mentioned a few times about every band in the area knowing each other and band members leaving to join other local bands but I didn't realise it was as rife as this!
