Wow, Horace! Beautiful place! The colours of the water are astounding and the beach is so picturesque, reminds me of the film "Mediterranean". Is that limestone the cliffs are made of? Hey, and finally some people celebrate your presence as it is due! What were those things that they lit up over the water in your honor?

Wonderful pics, thanks for sharing The GBP is very strong atm, so I guess you can go whatever you want lol To be honest I don't like the one where the beach is invaded by hundreds of people (I can even see indian people over there...) Sorry but as Charles Bukowski once said: "I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around".

I'm not sure what the rocks are but they looked similar to Gibraltar we visited last year. The last picture shows some boats which had flares on them they were acting out a Greek myth about Odysseus I think, who they say had landed on that beach. Things did seem cheap Buttler not just because of the pound against the Euro, I think the Greeks could put up their prices a little. There were many Italians on the island, I think they can get over via car ferry, both on the way and on the way back I spotted Venice from the plane.

5th pic down - is that a cross on top of the rocks?
Lovely shots, thanks.

Looks like you chose your holiday hot spot well, Horace, what a brilliant view from the hotel balcony too despite the car park. I bet there were hours of innocent people-watching to be had from there, one of my favourite things The beach does look a bit crowded but it was a party, and didn't you say there were other beaches to choose from? I remember going to Corfu in about 1985, the cost of living was extremely cheap then and that would have been what they were charging us tourists. It was 35p for a 50cl bottle of cold beer in a bar, for instance. So I agree they could put up their prices, most other holiday locations do and they could sure do with the revenue. Great pics, we should all join in and show off our travels too I reckon.

It is a cross BSJ the monastery is on that hill and so they have built it. The beach wasn't normally that packed unomusette it was due to the party where all the island seemed to come to the resort in coach loads. There were three beaches/bays in walking distance from the hotel.

Horacewimp, were you able to visit monastery, or area? Yeah we walked up the hill one day and went around it, not that exciting to be honest, some nice icon pictures and a small museum, but the views were good and that's were some of the photos were taken. There was also a cafe up there so had a beer to cool down They used to bring sheep and goats down the hill every morning to graze on some scrub land near the hotel and took them back up the hill in the evening. There is another cross on the hill which was lit up at night.

This is the type of sight seeing I enjoy - checking out the history of the area were there is no large mass of people. A great Venice experience for me, was finding a slooooowly sinking neighborhood church were you're able to see the few feet of water covering it's basement floor.
The flag shot is a favorite.
