Fantastic track - the kind you wish you could hear on the radio and in the charts more. I hope Jeff's new album is as good because Pugwash are doing a credible impression of what our expectations sound like. Although I'd say this track is slightly darker than anything Jeff or ELO would put out.

I think Jeff says "Look Out Baby, there's a Planet coming" the line from The Moves Do Ya. He says "Look Out Baby there's a Pug a comin'". An inside joke about what he originally said on The Move's Do Ya.

Very lush and Lynne-esque sound, it's one of the great things about Pugwash

I - and anyone else who backed the album on PledgeMusic - will get to hear the whole album in just a few days! If the rest of the album's as good as these tracks, then it should be more than enough to tide me over until Jeff's next release!

Y'know? I hate to be that guy - really, I do - but I found this album to be pretty disappointing. It's not awful, but after "The Olympus Sound," this album is kind of dull in comparison. The album starts off really strong, with the rocking and uplifting "Kicking and Screaming," the harmonic "Lucky In Every Way," and the mysterious "Feed His Heart With Coal." All three songs create a great atmosphere that segue perfectly into the next. Then "Just So You Know" comes in and ruins it all, being long and repetitive - probably one of the weakest Pugwash tracks I've ever heard. "Clouds" follows that, which is MUCH better, yet it has a similar tone. The album would have benefitted from dropping "Just So You Know" entirely. "The Fool I Had Become" is a classic Pugwash tune that can rock with the best of them, and then comes the best surprise of the album: the show-stopping "You Could Always Cry." It's funny how we can judge what a song might sound like just by the track name. When I first saw the title of this song, I didn't anticipate it to be anything special - WOW was I wrong. This has already become one of my favorite Pugwash tracks.
Unfortunately, that track doesn't gain the album too much steam, as the last three tracks kind of drift off into Power Pop autopilot. "Oh Happy Days" could have been a great song, but I found it to be a little overproduced. Not a fan of the trumpet during the "ba ba-ba-ba" part, among other things. Then "All The Way From Love" and "We Are Everywhere" are nothing but filler, making for a dull and uninspired closing of the album.
So, while 70% of the album is great, that other 30% kind of drags it down. It's a decent album, but it could have been much better.
