'10538 Overture' heard in the shopping centre over the tannoy this weekend. Not very congruous with buying shampoo and visiting the pound shop is it? Maybe it was being played to advertise the pound shop's shampoo? "Did you hear there's new creme to wash the hair today, Something has been found, for your locks, a giveaway...."

On BBC Radio 4 Extra this week, half-hour comedy show: Mitch Benn Is The 37th Beatle. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03szxdhMitch mentions Jeff/ELO (and does a quick impersonation of Jeff) at 17:05-17:25. It's worth listening to the whole show. Mitch is very funny, writes good comedy songs and knows his Beatles stuff. (Plus, he's a friend of mine!)

Another reference to ELO (see my post top of page six) on "Malcolm in the Middle"(comedy early 2000's). Last night was an episode where Malcolm's brother and a buddy made a mixed tape that included ELO for the drive to a concert. Telephone Line was played.

On BBC1, Strictly's just started and what's the first song they've played in their little intro sketch? Mr Blue Sky!

Keep dancing, Horace...! They just said "Jess Glynne" would be on Strictly later. I rubbed my ears.

For what it's worth the RadioELO podcast page has been updated with a batch of new shows.

I visited my 102-year-old great aunt this weekend in a care home. The radio in the resident's sitting room was playing 'Don't Bring Me Down'. Not exactly Jeff's target audience but the sound was turned up loud anyway.

Another one of my favourite bands there... The character limit put a stop to TheSaintlyShroudedMan (another reference, if you get ELO and Pink Floyd you'll probably get that)
