Radio? Satellite should be ok, you pay for the service. But Radio?

That's what I thought too, but apparently in the UK playing the radio "in public" attracts a fee. I blame the stupid European Union, most of our daft laws come from there.

Incredible what bureaucrats can do. Their imagination to break people's balls knows no limits.

Exactly. Bet you get a whole load of that in your country too Yes, a WHOLE load of that. There are so many laws that no one knows them, they contradict each other and most things you do you are breaking a law.

Is this the reason you want out of the Attorney biz?

Yeah, I'm fed up of all that crap.
When you choose you career at 17 you think you will be fighting for justice. Then you realize you are working as the guy who knows how to deal with bureaucracy. Not what I expected, definitely, and not what I like. I'm not too old to correct my mistake.

Last night, completely unexpectedly, I heard '10538 Overture' on Radio 3! Not the whole song, just a clip used as an illustration in this programme www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04xrq9n . The illustration was sadly not of ELO but of American Hustle. Either was it was very nice to hear it on R3 for a change.

This morning, on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, The Waterboys were Chris' guests, and played live in the studio. Afterwards, Chris (a known ELO fan) said to The Waterboys' violinist: "That violin was the best lead guitar we've ever heard!... when did you start going all Mik Kaminski on us?" (I didn't hear this myself at the time, but my best friend was listening, and he told me about it later. Seemed to think I'd be interested.)

I predict it's only a matter of time before Chris Evans has Mik on at least his radio show, probably on telly too. It could be that more people recognise him than recognise Jeff, the public are odd like that.

I can believe that, that more people will recognise Mik than recognise Jeff. "Hey that's the 'Clog Dance' bloke, don't know who the guy in shades is". Mik better watch out or Evans will be pushing for a Jeff/Mik reunion seeing as a Bev/Jeff reunion isn't on the cards.

Mr Blue Sky was used a number of times on Waterloo Road tonight on the BBC. The ELO version was used for a good few minutes at the start and then towards the end a version by a female singer (Lilly Allen?) was used. Thanks to my teenage daughter for this spotting Yes that was Lily Allen. A b side or something which didn't make it on an album. Quite a refreshing cover I think!

I got a vague recollection that I remember seeing a clip a few years back where Harry Hill mentioned Jeff Lynne in his voice over it was probably the same one. It's not actually Jeff just a lookalike with a beard and shades.
