Self-initiated, so it doesn't really count, but I figured this was the most appropriate thread... I was over at someone's house today and they have an Alexa, so I asked it to play some ELO. I was quite impressed that several deep cuts were played, Buildings Have Eyes and Long Black Road among them. Pretty fun considering that I was expecting a greatest hits playlist. you peaked my curiosity, so I asked Alexa to do the same for me, it chose to play "Don't Bring Me Down" and it played it from a greatest hits collection where "grroosss" is replaced by "Bruce" in the lyrics a somewhat disappointing choice Alexa doesn't do things randomly. It might choose older songs for older users? Or, if it's really thinking then it could have known that I ordered a live greatest hits collection from Amazon a couple of years ago and chose a song based on that. do any other forum members want to try the Alexa ELO experiment? or Siri or Google?

That would be fun to see! I'd suggest letting the experiment play out for a bit, not just a song or two--I did have songs like Livin' Thing, Last Train to London, and Do Ya along with the lesser-known ones, so you might have to wait through a few of the hits before getting anything more interesting.

'Fess up time..... I heard a certain song in a very out-of-context scenario today; long story short, the thoughts going through my head as I was listening went about like this: "Hey, this is pretty good, I should see if I can find out who it's by"... "It actually sounds very ELOish, I'm really digging this"... "Yknow, the guy's voice even sounds a lot like Jeff's"... I was completely oblivious until the realization slammed into me with the very last line of the song... "Everyone's born to die." And to think that just the other day, I was slightly sad when it occurred to me that I'd likely never be able to hear an ELO/JL song out of the blue that I wasn't already familiar with, and thus never have the satisfaction of saying "gee, I'd know that voice anywhere, this must be an ELO/JL song" and guessing correctly, 'cos I thought I knew just about every song Jeff has ever touched, and that I'd only be exposed to anything new/unfamiliar in situations where I know what I'm listening to... Perfect opportunity, an obscure song I'd only heard once or twice ages ago, when I'm not expecting it, probably the only opportunity like that I'll ever get, and I manage to blow it...

Don’t be too hard on yourself Grroosss, it’s always nice to hear an ELO song even if you don’t recognise it at the start. If you are looking for the song on CD you will find it on the digitally remastered version of OTTD which has five bonus tracks. 1: Auntie (Ma Ma Ma belle take 1) 2: Auntie (Ma Ma Ma belle take 2) 3: Mambo (Dreaming of 4000) 4: Everybody’s born to die 5: Interludes Nice little booklet with it.

Fess up time No. 2 I heard Everybody's Going To Die for the first time today. Working at home, I searched YouTube on my phone for Eldorado first, then On The Third Day. EGTD was a BIG surprise! It's ELO, and not ELO... if you get my drift Synchronicity Grroosss

I've watched the Andy and Alex review a couple of times now, and their enthusiasm over hearing ELO for the first time is infectious and refreshing.
