I have to go with the right one, I think the text pops out more when it's yellow.

If I had voted in time (cuak), I'd have gone with the one on the right, not just because the letters are clearer, but mostly because the characters reference those led/light screens that were popular in the '80s and have more to do with technology, which is a key component in the "Time" story.
So I think the best one won.

Well, this is turning into a good year for books based on ELO's 80s output - so in addition to my "Making of Secret Messages" project, now we have a novelisation of Time (which is long overdue, if you ask me)? All we need is for someone to complete the hat trick by writing something about Balance Of Power... I wish the person who takes up this challenge the very best of luck!

I know it's not the 80s, but author Randy Blazak published "Mission of the Sacred Heart" in 2011, which is a novelization of the "A New World Record" album. And quite fantastic too. He's writing the sequel right now, which will be based on the "Dream Police" album. For the record: I would totally dig a making of Secret Messages book ... and if anyone does take up the task of a adapating Balance of Power, more power to them! (no pun intended.) I think that would be more difficult than "Time". It's a far less structured and linear album, lyrics wise, than any of the 3 80's albums.

Whether fictional and based on the album or just about the actual making of it, any Balance Of Power book would pretty much end up being the same thing - an account of how miserable Jeff was personally and professionally in the mid '80s!

Here is the proposed draft of the back cover synopsis of the book:
As a victim of an unthinkable time-travel conspiracy, Jeff wakes up trapped in the year 2095. The only familiar face is J0; an unprecedented robotic copy of the wife he left behind in 1981. But can she be trusted?
J0 could be the only key to unlock Jeff’s journey home, but it will require her to do something against her programming—something human.
During Jeff’s perilous journey through a world in the future, he will have to discover the truth about J0’s origins in order to uncover the reality of his own destiny.
In a race against the clock, and a one-way ticket to the moon, Jeff must seize his last chance to return to his time. A time without hover cars, Justice Computers, and TeleSkins—a time over one hundred years ago.

Wow that sounds really good. Now who would play Jeff in the Big screen adaptation?

I don't know, but there is a character named "Bruce" (who was named after the Don't Bring Me Down myth - and has a large role in the story) and I envisioned John C Reilly for his part. And the part of Julie/J0 (Jeff's wife in 1981 and 2095) to be played by Rose Byrne.

John Reilly is a contender.

Even better?:

J0 could be the only key to unlock Jeff’s journey home, but it will require her to do something against her programming—something human.

The first review hit Amazon!:
This book has everything, time travel, conspiracy, romance, heartbreak, even a steady stream of classic rock. I couldn't put it down. It sucked me in from the moment Jeff opened his eyes. I found myself feeling for the characters, hoping for the mystery to work out in Jeff's favor, and forgetting I wasn't really there. Paone writes with an easy grace that makes you feel the scene rather than see it. I felt like I was transported into a futuristic Doctor Who episode at times and kept waiting for the TARDIS to show up.

I am not much a reader of books, I prefer magazines, but I'm enjoying reading Brian's book. I must be about 2/3rds through it and will give a review to Amazon once I've finished.
