Let's do this, folks! Thanks to Mr. Wimp for setting this section up. worthy There will 32 bands from which to choose. Your only job is to vote in the poll, and let us know your favorite. The winner of each poll will advance onward and upward. Each round will be determined totally by random, so it could be an even match up, or a totally one-sided affair. Polls will stay up for a few days, or until Horace decides we've had enough. With that, I give you the first round! (as always, remember to vote in the poll, by clicking your choice.) The Kinks
vs. Queen

It has to be Queen for me, they did some very good (and very bad) songs. They also had a light rig which turned into a space ship Thanks to Chippa for running the polls

Queen for me, I love The Kinks but Queen just steamroller over them. Special mention to both though for their great choices of names

Queen for me. I listen to them in my car, when ELO aren't on, that is. Classic driving music.

I went with The mighty Kinks. I love Queen, but Ray Davies is one of the great songwriters of all time.

Nice to see the Battle of the Bands back!
The Kinks for me. I love Queen but the Kinks wrote more down-to-earth, modest music. Queen seem to exist in their own universe (for proof see the We Will Rock You musical).

Boo! Queen is like hearing a musical, like "The sound of music" but with electric guitars... so melodramatic, theatrical and corny. Too pretentious and overacted.
The Kinks had a few cloying songs as well I must admit, but many others which were great. Ray Davies was a very creative and original songwriter.
Kinks all the way.

What a pity that BSJ coin... had it fallen on the other side and we would have a tie right now. BTW, Chippa, correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall the Kinks winning the last Battle of the Bands that was done on the old forum.

Chippa, maybe don't place obvious winners, like the Beatles, on the poll?
