Some time ago I used to be a big fan of Futurama (I still like it but I rarely catch it on TV, that's why I speak in past tense).
Well, there was this episode where the crew of the Planet Express Ship were traveling through a kind of Bermudas Triangle of space and you could see many spaceships that were thought to be disappeared (they were all semi broken and non-operative, of course). The author made a big nod to ELO fans, as at a certain point you can see, floating between many ruined spaceships, one which was clearly ELO's.
The part I liked most is that is hasn't got the "ELO" letters in the center, like the one from OOTB used to have. That's what makes it an intelligent wink in my opinion. The shape and the colours are perfect (except for a breakage on one of it's borders) so if you know about ELO's spaceship you cannot mistake it, but if you don't know about it there's nothing there telling you it's the ELO spaceship.
I reckon only 1 in 100 viewers get the reference, but that's what makes it more exciting and fun for the ones who get it.
Have you seen this episode by any chance? Have you heard about it?

"Chereene Alien" (Although I seem to remember Leela turned out not to be an alien in the end).

I haven't seen this one, but I love this kind of stuff!
I remember a long time ago on an episode of The Simpsons, Lisa was talking to Homer about how he doesn't really know her, and he said, "Of course I do," and rattled off a list of her favorite things. One of them was, "...and who is your favorite Traveling Wilbury, hmm? Jeff Lynne?!?"
Does anyone remember that? I've tried several times but can't find it on the interwebs.

Was it on a relatively new Simpsons episode? I love like the first 10 seasons but then they turned to be terrible and quite depressing to watch, so whenever I catch a "new" episode I switch channels.

That clip is marvellous, how come I never saw that episode? I love the Simpsons but I haven't really watched any new shows in five years or so.
I love the way Homer says "Jeff Lynne"!
