Jasper's just been on Steve Wright in the Afternoon on BBC Radio 2. He talked a bit about his career and his new tour giving Bev a little mention. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04gbgv9

Gotta say I kinda feel sorry for Bev and co. Really looks like they were the victims in the end? Looks like neither Roy or Jeff want to know him, but he seems like a very genuine nice bloke? Sad really?

Has Roy fallen out with him too? Wonder if it's over the same thing, or does Bev just have a knack for enraging people? As you say, he seems like a nice guy - but aren't they the ones you have to watch out for?

Jasper appeared on the BBC Breakfast show last Thursday. He gave Bev a couple of mentions which is always nice to hear.

Seemed the best place to put this, as we don't have a News thread, hint, hint. Jasper Carrott is on Sounds of the Seventies tomorrow (Sunday 24th) at 3pm on Radio 2. He'll probably only have a short spot, probably in the second hour, but the show is worth listening to anyway. Except that Johnnie Walker is a bit of a Bruce Springsteen fan so you might have to be ready to switch off suddenly. Or maybe that's just me. Right there withja sister! Ghe fascination with Springsteen is beyond me? I think he's overrated.

Wow! I always knew you were a splendid judge of musicianship jefflynnenut! One of my first posts on this site was moaning about the puzzling popularity of Brucie - I'm sure he's a nice person and all but if you look up Dad Rock his photo will be right there. *goes straight to Hell*

On the subject of the relationship the pair were never that close even when they worked together. Even in ELO's halcyon days they hardly socialised together and moved in different circles away from the band.
The two have buried the hatchet though. Bev had accepted an invitation for Jeff's Broad Street Star of Fame ceremony in Birmingham but it clashed with a gig on the same night that had been in the diary for almost a year. But Bev will play no part in any ELO work and the irony of it that it is through his own choice and not necessarily Jeff's so all those hankering after the so-called "classic line-up" (if there is such a thing) it won't happen. Primarily because some have moved on to pastures new while others aren't in the best of health.
Things do change and sometimes us fans need to accept it.

This is funny because a few hours ago I was remembering this friend who didn’t like Springsteen and she was from his hometown!
The first time someone said to me that they didn't like the Beatles I was so shocked and totally thrown! I couldn't grasp it. What planet are you from? I thought he was teasing me!
Totally off track – your doing!
Keeping it off track I've never "got" Springsteen either

Keeping it off track I've never "got" Springsteen either hmmm...springsteen has made some pretty classic tunes over the years, im not a big fan but have a couple of his albums...on another note......my wife reckons she hasnt got time for the beatles, but its her family, they all seem to have it in for them claiming 'without george martin' etc etc, which of course is complete b*llox...cos the argument is 'without mccartney and lennon where the hell would george martin be'.....apart from producing a few classical music albums.... anyone who says they dont like the beatles hasnt listened to a cross section of their work as they pretty much covered the whole range from pop classic to rock to really weird..... still...its a funny old world....

Primarily because some have moved on to pastures new while others aren't in the best of health. Things do change and sometimes us fans need to accept it. and to back all that up i found this in the birmingham post.... “Getting a star on the Broad Street Walk of Stars is fantastic,” he grins. “I never dreamed of being honoured in any way in my home town, let alone anywhere else. I just counted myself lucky if I could get a gig. “I’m also getting a star on Hollywood Boulevard this year but, of course, the Birmingham star is closest to my heart. It’s where I come from, where it all started for me. And the star will be on Broad Street, close to where we played some of our earliest gigs back in the 1960s. “I’ll be among good friends, too, because Ozzy Osbourne, Roy Wood, Tony Iommi and Bev Bevan all have stars on Broad Street. “I’m looking forward to seeing Roy Wood again tonight. He’s coming along to the Walk of Stars event and it’ll be the first time I’ve seen him in 20 years. It’s a shame Bev Bevan couldn’t be there but he’s playing a gig. I’ve not seen him in 25 years. “Would we ever get back together? Probably not. We’ve all moved on in our separate ways since we first played together in The Move and the original Electric Light Orchestra line-up.”

I joined it half way thru and he basically just talked about the usual stuff such as early days, how he got his name (out playing with Bev aged 9) as well as talking about the tour with Bev, so nothing ground breaking to report.....
