We had this topic on the ELO Forever Forum, so why not bring it back here?
One of the first songs I can ever remember thinking might be ELO, is this Daryl Hall hit from 1986.

So many Roxette songs sound like ELO to me (although to tell the truth ELO songs used to sound like Roxette to me because I knew the Swedish band much before I came to know about the hairy Brummies)...
Just to choose one, this one could well be in "Time", "Secret Messages" or "Balance of Power":

Laurent Voulzy is a French artist (he also worked with Kim Wilde). This song is really influenced by ELO:

I believed, for a time, that Jeff wrote this song.

World Party's album Goodbye Jumbo came out in 1990, shortly before Jeff's Armchair Theater, so a lot of people thought this was something from that album, before they found out differently. Give a listen and you'll realize why. Vocally, Karl Wallinger is almost a dead ringer for the shaded one.

When I first heard the World Party stuff I really thought it was Jeff, it's uncanny how similar they sound. Most stuff by the band Pugwash sounds very ELO, also the collaboration with Neil Hannon (famously an ELO fan)as The Duckworth Lewis Method. I don't know how to do that embedding thing but here's a link to a jolly fine example with a great video: And here's one to a bunch of Pugwash ELO covers www.youtube.com/results?search_query=pugwash+eloEdit: Wow! The embedding thing just happened on it's own - don't ask how but it's left me feeling mighty smug.

I'm a huge Pugwash fan, I've spent the last 7/8 months listening to their albums every day They're going to tour in US next autumn, a "Best of" is going to be released on 9/23/2014 ( A Rose In A Garden Of Weeds).

Take a listen to Two Sheds Jackson! They don't have much out, but you'll thank yourself for listening to this one...
