I guess Rush comes to mind for me, they're not always listed as one of the greats, but sheesh they've been an amazing band that has put out an awful lot of good stuff with above average lyrics, IMHO.
Any other under-rated artists out there? Feel free to disagree with mine if you want.

No, for what I know I think Rush is OK.
Underrated artists? Roxette. Pretty much like ELO, they were massive in their heyday but people took them as a trend and then forgot about them and how great they were.

Fleming and John (who did the amazing cover of Eldorado on Lynne Me Your Ears) I got into them via that, they were brilliant but they appear to have stopped bothering these days. Fleming's voice was awesome, the strings were fab and the lyrics really clever. Might bring 'em in on CD of the Week sometime

Jason Falkner. A great songwriter, who has Jeff's knack of coming up with memorable hooks and melodies.
Here he is with his band The Grays
and some solo stuff...

This guy is definitely under-rated, sir Randy Stonehill.

1. Dan Fogelberg. He deserved to be the 5th member of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
2. Thin Lizzy. Had more and musically brilliant work than "the boys are back in town".
3. Rory Gallagher. Eric Clapton was asked "what is it like to be the best guitar player in the world"? And he replied "I don't know, you should ask Rory Gallagher"!
4. Terry Reid. Famously approached by one...Jimmy Page to join a small lil outfit called LED ZEPPELIN and he turned the job DOWN!!!! siting Mr. Plant for the job. But his solo stuff is amazing! !!!

Lizzy were legendary, especially live. Saw them loads of times and they always put on a great show. What are your views on Black Star Riders though?

Honestly Uno not much. I think its jaded quite frankly. It was awesome to be such a big fan and have a certain Mr. Brian Downey* drop into my gig as he was a fan of our group (*blatant disgusting shameless name drop).
