Serena Williams announced today that she is “evolving away from tennis”. she doesn’t like the R word
Jeff is so quiet on social media that I wondered - will he even tell us when he’s done?

I think he will retire from touring at some point but still continue to record. When that will be is anyones guess....

I think he is semi retired already, he only works when he wants to, he is not tied to a contract or a release schedule.
I expect one final tour and album and that will be his lot.

I too have the impression that Jeff is at least semi-retired. But that is his right, after all, he has been musically active for almost 60 years. Why shouldn't he enjoy life?
Considering what we have seen in recent years, I don't expect much from him: maybe more tours, maybe more albums. Neither of these things excites me very much, because the albums didn't sweep me off my feet. And the concerts weren't bad, but two of them were enough for me, because Jeff hardly changes the setlist.
What I would hope for would be releases from his archive. Unfortunately, he seems to have little or no interest in that.

I think he's done touring. He's a multimillionaire and doesn't need the cash, so why leave home when you don't have to? I think we'll see a couple of more albums and maybe another project with another artist.

Anything short of a spaceship descending to our planet, establishing some sort of static electricity-based connection with Jeff's hair and abducting him for good will be a disappointment.

I'd love it that when he does retire , if he doesn't do it his un released material is properly made available after being collated by real lovers of his work

If you enjoy what you do as much as Mr. Lynne, it's not work anyway. He will play and record for his own amusement until he regroups with his friends in paradise. My guess is the only thing he has stopped is touring.

Jeff may retire in the same way that he did with the Time Tour - not announcing that the Time Tour was ELO's last tour; or what he did after the last BOP gig - not announcing for two years that ELO was no more. I'm not expecting much from Jeff at this point - if he tours one final time, the set list will be largely the same, and any new albums will be done by him without turning the reins over to a younger producer who could inject some energy and diversity into his songs.

He'll be 75 in December. I think he already knows when and how his career will come to a close. He's given us over fifty years of outstanding music and memories that'll last generations, and we should be beyond grateful for that.

Listening to an oldies station on Sirius and found that Sammy Hager has turned 75. Does not compute. So we made a few margaritas with Cabo his tasty tequila that he created (and sold for a song) to celebrate. If Jeff were to branch out in the booze arena, would it be beer? A retirement vocation.

Good idea but the thing is,in all the pics that you see of Jeff with a drink in his hand it's usually wine not beer (apart from that promo pic with the band where they are all holding cans of a sponsors beer) Maybe he could do a nice Take Me St Emilion And On?
