When my mom still enjoyed music, she used to like the Traveling Wilburys, too. She rarely listens to any music these days, though. And she does not like the sound of Jeff's voice. In her youth, she enjoyed the first two albums of the Rolling Stones the most. My dad likes a good hook in a song so when I play him some ELO and Lynne productions, he usually digs it. Julianna Raye's "Limbo" and Del Shannon's "Rock On" album are particular favorites with him. And my ex-girlfriend, well, she told me she didn't understand nor like the "old men" I listened to, but that took place when we had grown apart already. And right there is the f**kin deal breaker!

My Mum (RIP) liked quite a few ELO songs especially ones with classical elements to them, she also sung the line from "Don't Walk Away" when talking to the dog she would say "all you gotta do is STAY" to it! My mom would always request that I play Way Life's Meant on the guitar. I think 1981 was a goode year for her and it brought her back to happier days... Nobody else in my fam really liked them at all. Later on, my nephew acquired an appreciation for them, especially the way Jeff layers his BG vocals and does those little repeats "city of dre-e-e-ams", and now one of his boys likes them as well.

LOL so true! I've never had a GF that was really into them. They mostly just tolerate it as sort of just another eccentric quirk of mine. My recently ex-GF finally tried to work it into a conversation one time by saying that some tv actor looked like Lynne. I really didn't think so, but didn't disagree because I was so taken with her attempt to relate to me about it!

Not really ever, no...
One co worker once was REALLY into the Beatles, but had not heard of ELO (huh?) He listened to ANWR and was hooked.

Last week, I got talking to a colleague about ELO. He said the only song of theirs he knew was Four Little Diamonds. I must have done a good job selling them, because he promptly went off and downloaded the Secret Messages album. Saw him today and he said how much he liked it. I've recommended A New World Record to him next. He'll be joining us on here before he's very much older! Said colleague is moving away to work in the company's Glasgow office soon. I went to his leaving do yesterday (and yes, of course I wrote "From ELO to goodbye" on his leaving card. I never know what to write on those, but it was a pretty safe bet that no one else was going to put that.) He mentioned that he had downloaded ANWR, but had yet to listen to it. So if in three months or so this forum acquires a new member, located in Glasgow...
