Sounds good PowWow, will check it out this week and send you my thoughts!
That must be an English take on the date? Here in the states, most of us would say 1/4/2015.

Hey good choice Pow! During the summer I was addicted to the French boys while travelling through Normandy to Brittany. Although I was listening to the more organic Random Access Memories. ...I think this album is their finest work. In particular Georgio by Morodor celebrating Georgio himself. In fact I don't think there has been a piece of music like it in 10 years. But I'll have a listen to Discovery again! It's in my C.D. collection for years but it needs dusting off! Thanks again bro!

Looking forward to having a listen. I had a soft spot for Daft Punk when they started. Any group that kicks off their career with a music video featuring a dog with a ghetto blaster is fine by me.

The only Daft Punk related stuff I've actually heard is Get Lucky, insanely catchy. But I know they're pretty well thought of in muso circles so I'm expecting great things from this. Looking forwards to it

Jim In ole Argie we say the same way PowWow put it there. It makes much more sense to me not only because it's what I'm used to, but also because why on Earth would you place month first, day second and year first??? Doesn't make any sense! You Americans are crazy.

So, would you say today is "January 6, 2015" or "6 January, 2015"? The latter. The only way it makes sense. You start from the smallest, most precise measure of time and go in order of length to the biggest one. Of the three measures of time involved there (day, month and year), why would you start by the middle one, then go to the smallest one and then to the largest one? That's illogical!

I would alway say and write 6th January 2015, I guess its how you were taught at school and depends upon your countries preference. As we are a multination forum we should perhaps use roman numerals (maybe not it still doesn't work) VI.I.MMXV or I.VI.MMXV We should start our own Horace Wimp calendar which excludes Saturdays. According to wikipedia more than twice as many of the world population seem to use dd/mm/yyyy format.

OK, here is my review of Daft Punk's "Discovery" CD.
01. "One More Time" - Very nice way to kick off a CD. I find it very relaxing and helps me to concentrate on the work I'm doing. Good stuff. 02. "Aerodynamic" - Love the sudden stop of the previous track and bell transition to this one. Very funky and fresh sounding, and with nice guitar riff that doesn't get too self-indulgent. Like it a lot. 03. "Digital Love - Beautiful, love it. 04. "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" - I like the unique electronics used on the vocals, nice funky groove to the music. 05. "Crescendolls" - OK, a little bit repetitive, CD needs to break some new ground about now. 06. "Nightvision" - Sounds OK, and continues the relaxing feel, but too repetitive and starting to sound like filler. 07. "Superheroes" - Gimme more words, me need some more words. 08. "High Life" - A decent groove, I like how it uses the voice like an instrument. Seems like it should develop a tad more. 09. "Something About Us" - I like the opening chords, and the unapolegetically laid back funky dance grrove that it gets into. Nice tune. 10. "Voyager" - A nice relaxing instrumental. I think it should have used a xylophone for the cool ad-libbing. 11. "Veridis Quo" - This guy is not afraid to be repetitive if he finds a groove, which is good. This one sounds nice. 12. "Short Circuit" - Great funky music. Like it a lot. 13. "Face to Face" - Unique, not too much into its stop and go nature. Not my fave on the CD. 14. "Too Long" - Would have sounded good with just acapella and no music at all.
Star Rating: 3.2 of 5 Prime Cuts: "One More time", "Aerodynamic", "Short Circuit", "Something About Us", "Digital Love" Bottom Line: A relaxing and enjoyable CD.
It works really nice for a good soundscape if you are doing grunt work, like I was today in the office; and even if you need to concentrate the tone and vocals are such that they don't interrupt your concentration.
On the one hand, sometimes it seems to me like a prisoner of the techno-pop style, as I indicated in a couple of my song comments. On the other hand, there is something to be said for being unapologetic about using a format, since it serves to make a project cohesive and keep it in its intended scope.
Thank you for presenting this one to us, PowWow; it's a pretty good CD.
Jim
