They're playing my home town soon & I'm not sure whether or not to see them. Has anyone been to see them & if so are they worth it? Or are they just another rip - off tribute act?

If they aren't extremely expensive I would attend. It's not like you got plenty of opportunities to listen to a whole set of ELO songs live, so once you have the chance and it's in your home town, try to take it. That's what I would do. Also, what do you mean by "another rip - off tribute act"? They are in fact a tribute act and obviously they play ELO songs, so if you used the word "rip-off" to referr to playing other artists' songs, yes, that's exactly what tribute bands do. For what I've seen, they include "Summer & Lightning" in the set so that alone is worth the ticket .

They are very good, they are from my home town and I've seen them 3 times and have front row tickets for Jan 2015. I wouldn't let the opportunity pass you by. They do the whole of concerto for rainy day!

By "another rip - off tribute act" I meant one that is just riding on the back of another artist's success without any particular musical integrity or ability of their own. There are some incredibly good tribute acts and some very bad ones. In recent times there have been 3 Queen tributes and 4 Abba ones playing locally and I'm sure the quality varied greatly.

Glad for you, I'm sure you will enjoy it. For what I've seen and heard, they sound quite well. Covering ELO songs in itself is not something easy and I don't think mediocre musicians are likely to attempt doing that (they would be more inclined to cover other artists's song which's music is more simple and which's name is more popular). Share your opinion with us afterwards!

If they ever came to Sweden, I would go. Sounds like fun.

If Jeff doesn't announce any more dates I will go and see them when they play Tamworth in November.

It's interesting that ELO already have their own tribute act whilst still being a going concern. Usually the bands are long gone like ABBA, Queen and The Beatles.

It's not that uncommon for still active bands to have tributes - mostly in heavy metal. AC/DC, Kiss, Iron Maiden etc. have tons of tribute bands, despite still being active.

I bet it's a lot of fun being in a heavy metal tribute. That might be the attraction.

Saw them a couple of years ago in Wakefield, and they sounded brilliant.Apart from seeing Jeff/ELO live then how are you going to get the live ELO vibe? A good 2 hours plus of non stop hits with quite a few album tracks thrown in too (although when I saw them,Eldorado wasn't represented at all) I would heartily recommend them.

ELO Part II (Bevan, Kaminski, Groucutt, Troyer, Bates, Clark) was the best ELO cover band imo. Above all, however, I would remind you their two albums, "Moment of Truth" (Studio) and "One Night" (2CD, Live in Australia), with the best live version of "Showdown" I've heard so far

With the 'ELO experience' the lead singer tries to look and sing like Jeff,so I'd rather see them than 'ELO part 2' I've seen ELO twice so part two were always going to be inferior in my eyes.

So you would rather see zero original band members rather than 4? Hmmmm! I would prefer to see both of them, as long as they weren't playing on the same night at the same time... Never turn down an opportunity too see and hear ELO music been played live. It's a rare treat. As long as it's performed well and respectfully.... Don't cut your nose of to spite your face... You may not get another chance to be in a venue with 1000s of other people appreciating the wonderful music.
