I think he's traumatised by the fight, he's gone all needy and wants to be cuddled all the time. Before, if you tried to cuddle him he'd give you a pitying look and push you off before disappearing back into the garden to kill small wildlife.

How's Matthew, Uno, is he still feeling ruff?

He's pretty perky apart from being cheesed off because he's not allowed outside. Back to the vet's tomorrow, hopefully for the last time. Cost me a fortune in sardines to hide his antibiotics in, pesky kit.

I feel sorry for poor little Matthew. I hope he's feeling friskier soon. My Barney is suffering too, his back legs have almost gone completely - the vet says it could be nerve damage. At the moment he has only one good paw to balance on and spends all day curled up in a little ball resting.
I hope he knows he's lucky to live at our house! A lot of work goes into caring for a disabled cat. He has his food brought to him (and is often hand or spoon fed), he needs to be carried out into the garden to do his private business and is costing us a fortune in treats. The little soldier has an expensive taste for tinned tuna. Once or twice he's had a little "accident" in his bedding and the look of shame on his face is proof that cats do like their dignity.

Poor Barney, sorry he's going through this. Strokes to him, I'm sure he appreciates the love and care he's getting from his household.

I agree, although Barney's having a rough time it would be a whole lot worse without all of the diligent nursing and tlc he's getting. Being a cat, of course he probably just sees it as his due, with queenofthehours as his loyal servant. Most of the furry little critters have this outlook, I find (and we just fall willingly into line hehe) Sending him best wishes and whiskery nose-bumps from Matthew and Nashville ^..^

Poor Barney, but it sounds like you are doing a fine job comforting him, Queen.

Thanks vlogdance, uno, Helmut. Barney appreciates you thinking of him . He's paralysed from the waist down and since he can't get outside to the toilet on his own he's wetting his bed very often. Puppy training pads are an invaluable help for this but I'm sure he resents the loss of his pride to canine products. Still, he's bright-eyed and is keeping his moral high by biting fingers and eating ham.

He sounds like a proper trouper, you too for nursing him so well.
At least he's always in the same place and you can make it as comfy as possible for him. I remember my Mum had a siamese cat which got some sort of gastric problem resulting in sudden diarrhoea - the squirty noise spooked him and he'd run all over the place trying to get away from it, it was so funny but so awfully messy all at the same time. (Hope nobody's eating their tea reading this...)
