Thanks for your words, queenofthehours. What you said about cats being "like little living, breathing pieces of your soul covered in fur" is not just beautiful but it is also totally true.

Helmut83 Aww, what a cute little thing your Beto was! The size difference between him as a baby and a full grown rhea is quite striking! How sweet that he made friends with the sheep, but unfortunate that he wasn't as friendly with the dogs. I noticed that when I was feeding the ostriches, some of them were much more careful taking food from my hands. Most of them were pretty gentle, but one of them tried to take my whole hand with the food. lol I'm glad to hear that he wasn't aggressive with you or your family. Yes, their kicks can definitely be deadly. The members of the ostrich family can disembowel with their kicks, which is really scary!
I'm sorry to hear that he passed so suddenly, I would have been heartbroken. Thanks so much for sharing your pictures, though it was lovely to see them!

Glad you enjoyed my relation about Beto the ñandú, BIuebird , I hope it gave you an itching and that at some point in the future if you and Mr Bluebird get to live in a more spacious place you will take on the adventure of having a ñandú yourself.

Sending much love and sympathy to Helmut83 and dillwyn on hearing of your very sad losses. Whether sudden and shocking or after a drawn-out illness there is a massive hole in your family when a pet passes on. It must be difficult to believe they won't come strolling through the door again, or that you won't hear the little noises they make when they're pleased to see you. Chula and Daisy sound like particularly special kits and well deserving of every tear you and your family will shed for them. The quote that vlogdance posted sums it up perfectly - You know you've done something right if you've been loved by a cat

She's beautiful dillwyn and how lovely for her to find a home with you in time for Christmas (I'm assuming the kitty is a girl, of course there are also male pixies....)

Ahh, he's lovely, Horace. Great name, too.
Better keep those travel forms out of his reach though. He looks just the type to go in for a bit of mischief.

He's a doll! Seems an efficient shredder. What does he charge per page?
