Also if the tickets are advertised on Viagogo steer well clear. Check Trustpilot reviews for Viagogo.

Can't Jeff and his lawyers stop these shenanigans? As representatives for OrKestra, ELO Part II, The Orchestra and the various related bands led by Phil Bates have said before, it's difficult to police any agreements made with Jeff's camp about how they are to be marketed when you have local promoters either advertising these acts based on incorrect information or in a way that aims to help sell a few extra tickets. Most bands that fractured or continue on in such a way experience similar issues, and without some kind of reform spanning the wider industry, I don't see any end to this problem. Thankfully, we're more equipped than ever to put in research and figure out who exactly you may be paying for.

If the concerts were advertised as Phil Bates without any mentioning of ELO, he would sell zero tickets.

I can think of instances where Phil and Part II, for that matter, have been introduced on TV shows as simply "ELO" and done absolutely nothing to correct this. While I think part of this is because they just didn't want to be seen as giving the wrong impression by correcting hosts, I also don't believe there are great efforts being made in advance to make it clear exactly who will be performing. Then again, all the effort in the world isn't going to count for anything if someone decides to deviate from a pre-written script and just keep in the bit they know will draw the most attention through name recognition. Promoters are likely faced with a similar dilemma - to them, the bottom line of their business is generating the most interest, so it's inevitable they're going to lean heavily into the ELO side of things over such details as what specific spin-off group will actually be playing.

Have they BEEN on tv shows? I shudder to think what tv channels would bring them on.

They appeared on a British breakfast show (see the ELO Part 2 thread on ex ELO members) and the interviewer, Anthea Turner, kept referring to them as just ELO.

No, I definitely meant Phil's band, and note the heavy emphasis on ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA during that introduction:

I hope someday he regrets doing this. That's the nicest way I can put it.

Sigh.....
1. I really wish this thread title was not what it is.
2. Luckily for me, I only ever hear about "fake ELO" bands on this forum.

Another thing that calls my attention is where they have placed the offer within the website: "indie och alternativ pop". Not only it's placed the wrong genre (why "alternative"?), but ironically enough, didn't "indie" stand for "independent"? I can't think of anything more dependent on others' music than Phil Bates' act.
