The owner of those acetates kindly provided a list detailing their contents, which matches what appears to be on them, going by several high resolution images that even show the banding: 18 songs split over four sides, with two of these being undocumented (and certainly not anything recognised as being recycled later), plus another two known tracks described as having alternate mixes. That's Cool! Is That List Available Somewhere Or Is It Private?

ELO 05-20-81 (from cassette)
A: Prologue/Twilight/Yours Truly, 2095/Ticket To The Moon/The Way Life's Meant To Be
B: When Time Stood Still/Julie Don't Live Here/[1]/Another Heart Breaks
C: Rain Is Falling/From The End Of The World/The Lights Go Down/Here Is The News [2]
D: 21st Century Man [3]/The Bouncer/[4]/Hold On Tight/Epilogue
[1] Described as a slow track, believed to be a missing link of sorts between the arrangement styles of Second Time Around and Letter From Spain. According to session engineer Brendan Higgs, this apparently had the working title of Sad Affair, though a collector has since suggested the lyrics previously shared do not appear in this song. For what it's worth, Rob Porter was asked to remove an entry for this - including all information provided to him exclusively - from his Jeff Lynne Song Database, which implies the source was either inaccurate or something the powers that be didn't want getting out. Now we have confirmation of this test pressing and potentially lower generation tape copies exists, the latter possibility is given more credibility.
[2] Alternate mix with an "explosion" sound effect at the end that was quickly faded out of the single album version to create a more seamless transition.
[3] Alternate mix with less of a jarring intro, likely edited out of the single album version to create a more seamless transition with [2].
[4] Described as an upbeat track similar to Here Is The News. Where that song detailed the protagonist's escape from Satellite 2 from the perspective of a news report, this is believed to provide a first person account of the same event, including motivation for him choosing to return to his own time. (He may have learned that something preventable happened to Julie...) An interlude connecting this with the next track can be found hidden on CD3 of Afterglow, where it is also placed immediately before Hold On Tight. When asked about this, Rob Caiger refused to either confirm or deny such a thing, though it should be noted that Flashback was released around the period he was more free to include such unlisted Easter eggs on other ELO-related releases - see the Harvest Showdown compilation for two further examples!

First of all I would like to say thank you ShardEnder It is very generous of you to share this information with us...It's been a long time since the first time I realized that In The Transition from "Here Is The News" to "21st Century Man" there is an Explosion that they tried to bury in the mix...now I know why ...The Info about "Time Transporter" (Or Whatever is actually called) Being an Upbeat Tune is new (At least for me)...Reading the list I can't believe Jeff's Camp isn't working at all to deliver this for the 40th anniversary of TIME (Or 50th ELO If You Will) A vinyl release with this Configuration of the record could make lots of money for them (And Bring Lots Of Happiness To Us) but instead they prefer to make Those (Sometimes) Inaccurate Spotify playlists and Sell Merchandise...Such a Sad Affair

There were definitely plans to negotiate with the owner of those 5-20-81 acetates, but it looks as if talks quietly broke down a few months ago (for reasons you can be sure I'll speculate about later). Then again, for Sony to have been able to include that little clip of "Time Transporter" on Flashback, they had at least a source for this in 2000, if not "Sad Affair" as well. My guess is that they've always had the original Time double album cutting tapes, much like how they were able to use a similar stereo master for the 3-11-83 assembly of Secret Messages to release that in an almost complete form, even leaving in a very short clip of the opening chord to Beatles Forever as a perhaps unintended clue to what they removed at presumably Jeff's request, this likely being a result of the storage phenomenon known as print-through.
P.S. That sound effect hidden at the end of Here Is The News is a hint I can't believe it took me so long to notice!

Today's official JLELO social media post is rubbing our faces in it, to air my grievances the most civilised way I can think of...

Today on Twitter, this post: The post has generated a selection of fan replies. Most people name their favourite Xanadu track, but others have responded with: "You celebrate Xanadu but not Time, upsetting." "Okay, we're celebrating this anniversary but not Time's anniversary from last month?" "Not only do you not even give the slightest mention to Time on any social media platforms, you skip right by its 40th anniversary to celebrate Xanadu’s 41st."

Hope Team Jeff has an answer. I don't think we'll get an answer, it's seems to me now that Jeff not only wants to airbrush past band mates out of ELO's history but albums too. The first two albums and now Time are being totally ignored. I hope like you that Jeff gives an explanation but I doubt it...

Here's a question for Jeff's social media team:
Which intern did you hire who can't spell "annivesary" correctly?
I swear, it's like they're hardly even trying to disappoint us at this stage and make a world-class musician seem like an utter amateur!
