No,I haven't pegged it.I went to an old mates funeral yesterday and he had three of his favourite songs played (Meatloaf,John Legend and James Blunt) so it got me thinking which songs that I would choose on my way to meet my maker,my two favourite songs are non ELO-Baker St by Gerry Rafferty and Hollow Horse by the Icicle Works.I think I would probably have Sweet Talking Woman as my third choice as it was the first record I bought by ELO and holds special memories. What songs would others choose?

My wake would be one hell of a cider feast at an alehouse, with the entire Time album blasting out of the speakers non-stop...

If you want to make everyone burst into tears, play the intro of "One summer dream".
If you want music to be a bit philosophical about death, play "Everyone's born to die".
If you want to tell others that you have gone to a better place, play "Moment in Paradise".
If you want to make it as lightweight as possible, play "Buildings have eyes", upbeat naive little song that has nothing to do with death.

Horace, I am not particularly keen on the first one. I think the effect it can have on the audience, parishioners, public or however you call the people in attendance in a funeral is making them feel sleepy.
And the second one is too dramatic, they will all start crying uncontrollably.
Plus none of them corresponds much with what seems to be your personality or at least what we know from it throughout this forum.

I guess I won't have much choice unless I tell Mrs Wimp, I think she would pick Mr Blue Sky and Enola Gay (OMD) if the opportunity arises I'll ask her later The two OMD songs are more songs I like so are probably not the best choice for a wake, they are both b sides so it's unlikely anyone else would have heard of them.

At the end of the day it is up to you what songs you want played and if any songs seem inappropriate then the family will just have to put up with them!
