My copy has been dispatched so I’m hoping for it to arrive tomorrow. If I’d known the author was on this forum I might have chanced my arm for a signed copy...... I hope that, now you have introduced yourself Barryd, you won’t be a stranger and will post from time to time. It’s always good to hear from people like yourself and shardender who have a wealth of knowledge. As Horace has said I wish you every success with the book.

Having been told the book would arrive on the 11th Jan, a nice little surprise today was the book on my doorstep.

Maybe barryd could sell a few signed copies on here to forumites? Or maybe donate one as a prize for some sort of competition?

I’m sure that any forum members that haven’t already bought the book would jump at the chance of a signed copy. There is a lot of true ELO fans here. Looking forward to a good read...

So having had a chance to skim through the book now, it will be a good read (especially on the songs /albums I have already dipped into) and you can see a lot of work has gone into it.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. I state in the introduction what the book contains and my reasons for doing that, but the bottom line is the book covers all officially released studio recordings by Electric Light Orchestra and I do not think the title is misleading.
None of the ELO tracks you’ve listed got an official release and are not available to legally obtain, although several are mentioned in passing under the album overview sections. I did consider reviewing live albums as part of the main body but the issue is complicated by the multiple grey area ELO/ELO part 2 live albums. ELO part 2 and notable live albums are covered separately as appendices and Love For Sale does get a mention.

While the omission of those three tracks exclusive to the original 2CD version of One Night is something of a shame, covering material that isn't yet officially available risks opening a proverbial can of worms and no end of nightmares for potential authors, as it's difficult to write about any particular rarity when these are always at risk of being surpassed by upgraded sources before your work has even made it to print. Also, there's little rhyme or reason to when such rarities will surface, which is why a better way to document those would be an open-ended format like Rob Porter's database. By contrast, with the exception of Jeff's recent hint that we can expect something next year, a list containing only previously released material is guaranteed to never change.

So we now have a successful author as well as the amazing Joy from Quill on this site, any more famous folk I wonder? We have two other authors brianpaone who wrote Yours Truly 2095 and of course vlogdance Mmmh, I wonder why I do always get overlooked when it comes to books written on Jeff Lynne's career? (Even amazon lists "Eldorado" print edition under the wrong author - how could this happen? They're telling me they are trying to sort this out for me as soon as possible) Okay, my two-volume-book (ca. 600 pages) is written in German, but it is pretty much aimed at hardcore fans. And in these modern times it should be possible to have it translated by using an app or sth? The print edition of Part I was released to critical acclaim in Germany in January 2018. We've been working on the print edition of Part Two which hopefully will be released in spring 2022.

Would it be possible to have an online ELO themed shop on this site I wonder, Horace?

Totally forgot about the 'for sale' link in the other discussion section.... Duh! It’s a shame this site isn’t used that often, just had a quick look not much on there.
