Is anyone following Wimbledon? Who are you rooting for?

Mrs Wimp always watches Wimbledon so it’s on in the background as I watch the Football European Championship on my iPad, so I take an interest in some matches usually if there is a Brit playing or someone I’ve heard of.

Both me and Mrs LT watch and enjoy all the tennis. I would love to see Roger Federer win again but at 39 it’s going to be tough for him. From may to September I play one night per week, doubles only. We are enthusiastic but not that great I’m afraid.....

Not a big fan of it these days but I was when I was younger I enjoyed it. I don't think there are as many 'stars' these days, especially on the womens side of it. I loved it in the 70s early 80s ....

I was surprised to see that Barty is the women's #1 - and leading in aces. At 5' 5" she has trouble smashing serves. She does have a great forehand and since she got to #1 just before Covid, she's had a nice long run there without having to play much. I'd like to see either her or Kerber win it on the women's side.
I'm rooting for Roger on the men's side. Have to stick with the "old" guys. I thought he looked great in the 1st set of his last match. Then it rained and I went to bed.

I've been watching, although Andy is sadly out, and Juan Martin Del Potro ("Del Boy") isn't playing, due to having more surgery on his knee.
In their absence, I'm rooting for Roger too, he is an artist on court.
On the women's side, a shame Johanna Konta didn't get to play this year. And Petra Kvitova hasn't played as well ever since that awful knife attack. But what a sensation Emma Raducanu was in her first Wimbledon! Surely a future star.

Yes it was such a shame the way she had to pull out, there was a LOT of pressure on her.

Both #1 seeds prevailed. Novak is a machine and it will be interesting to see how many more years he can maintain this level of play.

One of the good things about the tennis is when Andrew Cotter is commentating, he voice straight away reminds me of the lockdown Olive and Mable videos.
