Never got to see the original Mud line up, but saw Les Grays Mud in 1987. Would have loved to have seen them in 75. Still have all my vinyl records. Mud Rock my first LP.

The reason for the ventriloquist's dummy was that for Top of the Pops they had to pre-record the song then mime to it on the show. As "Lonely this Christmas" has a speaking part in the middle which is not easy to mime to, Les used the dummy for the spoken bit. Add a guy on a ladder pouring buckets of fake snow and you realise why in the 70's music was fun.
