Loved The Goodies, was more of a David Cassidy fan than a Rollers one though. Adored Wizzard, ELO passed me by until the late 70s

I was definitely into the glam rock and as a Mud fan saw them live in Cardiff Capitol in 1975.

The B side to The Lady In Red was this magnificent song, a former single... The song that follows it is equally magnificent

Mud were brilliant, wish I could have seen them in the 1970s but did see Les Gray later on, probably the same time as lasttrain929. Great excuse to show off their classic Christmas song with the hilarious ventriloquist's dummy, one of my favourite ever Top of the Pops clips

Great excuse to show off their classic Christmas song with the hilarious ventriloquist's dummy, one of my favourite ever Top of the Pops clips The reason for the ventriloquist's dummy was that for Top of the Pops they had to pre-record the song then mime to it on the show. As "Lonely this Christmas" has a speaking part in the middle which is not easy to mime to, Les used the dummy for the spoken bit. Add a guy on a ladder pouring buckets of fake snow and you realise why in the 70's music was fun.

You wouldn't catch the likes of Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber allowing themselves to be made fun of like that. Such a shame. Wonder if the fun will ever come back?
