I'll do the next one if nobody else is interested. I don't think anyone is booked in for this week so if you want to step in that's fine Uno.

Maybe I should put my name on the list given how few times I did it, but hey, I'm not one of the guys always participating on this section; I come and go here, so I'm not sure if it would be proper to take a turn again now. In any case, feel free to tell me when there's no one ready to do it.

Hi Jim and guys of the CD of the Week section: Just throwing an idea to the table. I've noticed that many of us are having trouble reviewing the CD of the Week lately because of busy day-to-day lives. Most of us tend to do the reviews on weekends, usually the weekend after the one in which the CD was posted, and just when the next user is about to post his CD of the Week. Sometimes we even rush through them to get them on time, and if we happen to have a busy weekend we are unable to review them. A whole CD is quite a big product to analyze in just one week. Last week's CD featured 17 songs! Reviewing 17 songs in just one week is quite a lot. That's why I had this idea about wether it wouldn't be better to post one CD per each two weeks (this means the CD would be there during 2 weeks). I think that would give us a more reasonable time to get to listen to it. I'm sure many of us appreciate the experience of getting to know a new album (or reviewing one we already know, why not?), but I think you enjoy it twice as much if you are able to do it more calmly. If you have much time you can even give it a couple more listens before you give your veredict, and if you don't, it is more likely that you will find a gap in two weeks than in one. Well, that's the idea. Of course if no one else agrees, that's it, but I thought it would be interesting giving it a discussion. jrmugz Horacewimp unomusette BSJ Chippa queenofthehours 88keys @brax

Here is the plan. We'll keep it for one a week for the rest of the year, since we're on a rotation of the ones who are interested do one, and then get put as next in the queue for the next spot a couple months later. In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions, like this one, we can consider it for 2016. For your suggestion on the one hand people can play it more. On the other hand, we're all busy so will just use it as an excuse for a longer delay of getting to it. Plus, then someone excited to share a CD has to wait longer for their turn. So for my part, I'm not too big on the idea of making it last two weeks. Plus, if it was two weeks longer, it might make people lose touch with checking the thread, etc. I don't mind ideas like when someone says they would rather feature 10 songs from a band instead of a certain album. That's always fine. For my part, I'm flexible for things like that anyways. Anyhow, anyone can feel free to offer any suggestions. Maybe in 2016, I can let someone else run it and do it their way if they want, but I say for this year, let's just ride it out this way until the end, all the while being open to new suggestions for how we want to do it next year. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and expressing yourself, always helpful and interesting to know what others are thinking, etc. Jim

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and expressing yourself, always helpful and interesting to know what others are thinking, etc. Well Jim, you actually got to know what I was thinking here, not what the others were thinking. And you already took a decision, cutting down any discussion before it even started. Plus it's a decision for the next 7 months, which is approximately 30 weeks... a hell of a lot of time. You run the CD of the Week, that's alright, but without the people who participate the section wouldn't exist. It runs because of all of the ones who participate as well as because of you. So having that in mind, why not let it be more democratic? I'm not against the decision in itself if most of the others want it like that; the thing is that the others didn't even get a chance to have their say before a decision was made.

OK, it's every two weeks starting the first week of August, that way a fresh start and won't disrupt anyone who is already scheduled.
I edited the first post to reflect the changes.

Jim, again, why fret so much? There's no need to make a decision right now; only Chippa, you and I gave our opinions. I don't want to be responsible for changes if no one else wants them. My point was putting this idea on the table to debate about it. Why don't we let the other guys give their opinions first and then we try to reach to some decision?

I got a little tardy with my reviews by my own fault - my time management skills are non-existent! For me it's not because a week isn't long enough but because I'm juggling a few things at the moment.
I love the CD section as it lets us share our other favourite music with other ELO fans. It's educational and where better to find new music to love than when it's recommended by people who you know already have great taste in tunes? .
I'm not keen on cutting the album choices down to only short albums with fewer tracks - some of the best LPs are long.
CD of the Fortnight seems an attractive idea - that way it would allow for one week to discuss first impressions and what we know of the album while we get acquainted with it and a second week to get critical with reviews.

I know I said I agree with Helmut, but really it doesn't matter to me if we do it every two weeks, every week, every month or every six months. It's really a minor issue, so whatever happens happens.
