That was my 1st ELO gig although I had seen Violinski the year before. Saw ELO again a few months later at Wembley... First time I saw ELO live too, was spine tingling seeing them on stage instead of hearing them on my stereo. The reception for them was amazing and looked like they enjoyed the show. Have only seen highlights on tv and remember they did a medley of some hits and started with twilight. Be interesting to know the full set list. Also saw them later that year at Wembley Stadium on the bill with Rod Stewart, think that was the last UK gig with Bev on drums.

Musically,I thought that the Heartbeat concert was poor, I don't know if they were ring rusty but although I was in awe of seeing them, the arrangements were poor imo...

While there were rehearsals for Heartbeat, that was ELO's first European show in 4 years. A lifetime in the music industry. Bevan even recently said that ELO as a band died when they quit touring (1982). I was quite surprised when ELO resurfaced in 1986 with BOP and those few gigs. I found that Jeff's work in 1982 - 84 (Edmunds, Video!, EB 84, was underwhelming. Sounded like he lost his way, which he basically admitted around the Zoom tour time. He found his way in 1987 - 91, and basically has been treading that same ground ever since.
