And for some reason I found the promo that comes with this set, all by it self at a record show.

It was the American version of Four Light Years if my memory serves me right.

I don't have either of them and not sure I'm really that interested.

I have this box set timeblue. The single is one sided, it has printed on one side, “this is a one sided record play the other side” What surprised me was the LPs were all Jet labels with the original printed lyric inner sleeves. No booklet like in three & four light years.

I got three and four light years when they came out it was a cheaper way of getting hold of the back catalogue.

I too got them before I bought the LPs separately, probably around 1982/3 ish. Both were 2nd hand and the Three Light Years box isn't in the best condition although the contents inside were mint with all the leaflets etc..

I don't know if I mentioned this previously but we had a hifi in the conservatory up until about 12/13 years ago but the wife then commandeered the room for her job as a childminder so the hifi went as there wasn't really a place for it in the living room....

LoL If it’s any consolation I’ve lost the conservatory too, a home office. I bought a new turn table about 2 years ago and hardly ever use it, the CDs are just handier, I’m lazy that way....

I have cd's for the car and my music files on my laptop for the house (or even Alexa)

I wonder why two different box sets were issued? and why didn't the UK get the Jeff promo?

The USA "Box Of Their Best" set contains 3 complete albums, A New World Record, Out Of The Blue, and Discovery on Jet Records.
The first issue got four coloured LP inner sleeves and comes with free Jeff Lynne 1 sided promo single, "Doing That Crazy Thing."
The later issues came with white inner sleeves and no single (there was often a white sticker attached on the sleeve hiding the single announcement)
Several issues come without the single, with one, two, or three white inners and sometimes without the white sticker but was still sealed. It seems that CBS USA wanted to give away their stock of inner sleeves !
