FTM had probably the best drum sound of any ELO album... I totally agree denny. Bev's drumming on Fire On High is brilliant! It's my favourite instrumental, but that drumming...

'Waterfall' is just as beautiful as an instrumental, maybe more so.

Telephone Line makes you realise just how important strings are to the ELO sound. Love this version it’s on the 30th anniversary CD of ANWR. My next listen to in the car on my way to golf.......

Interesting how the end is the same as live versions, I always thought it was just a 'tag' that they added on since they couldn't do the fade-out on stage but it seems this is how Telephone Line was originally written and intended!

I know I've heard the one for Waterfall before, but I forgot just how jaw-droppingly amazing it is.
Fingers crossed that the instrumental for Wild West Hero surfaces someday, if I ever got to hear it sans vocals again I'd cry tears of joy, it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Jeff would release instrumental versions of all the albums, he can have my life savings...

Jeff's voice is a big part of ELO's appeal to me, so I don't really see the point of doing instrumental versions of perfectly good songs. And I think the actual instrumentals in the catalog are kind of pointless. Perhaps with the exception of Believe Me Now, functioning as an intro to Steppin' Out.

I look at them as separate pieces of work, you appreciate the strings a lot more in my opinion..
