Yep, Hall of the Mountain King is a pretty high point, that solo is astounding

All the above - and I've always loved his playing on Down Home Town.

To me it's a pity that Jeff never let Mik shine much in the ELO songs (at least not the ones of the 1974-1979 period). There are several songs where a long, strong violin solo would have fitted perfectly well yet we almost never got some of that.
For example, I love what the violin does on "Fire on High" (the fast part), but they are just tiny arrangements -complementing the cellos- where a whole violin solo would have gone really well. The same goes for "Jungle": instead of that hyper short intro, a good respectable solo would have been fantastic on that song.
I mean, it was "Electric Light Orchestra" after all, and there isn't even one legendary violin solo...

Of course the intro into livin thing is my favourite, but the intro into sweet talkin woman has to be one of the most famous and recognisable intro's ever!

STW was the first single by ELO that I bought,so his notes on the intro were the first notes of a long and fascinating sojourn into the world of ELO.....
