I have seven of the best selling albums of the 80s but I only actually bought one of them in the 80s Queen’s greatest hits. A lot of really great albums released in the 80s. NTWICM must have sold a lot, I bought the first one on vinyl. Time should surely be up there it was a platinum selling album.

Thinking about the 'best album of the 80s', I never really liked the studio version of With Or Without You. I also thought it was curious why it was released after the album was, it being the first single. Even so, it is a concert favourite. I always end up singing along One memorable performance was in Milan. Bono's tribute to the victims of the terror attacks in London was all "Bono"...

The only one I have in my collection is Brothers in Arms, love a bit of Dire Straits Me too, I think this album sums up the 80s from the capitalism theme of Money For Nothing to the sublime and haunting Brothers In Arms....

Brilliantly, Sky Arts is now on Freeview - the other night they had on the Dire Straits Alchemy gig which I thoroughly enjoyed. Especially as I only had it on VHS and can't watch it any more

I'm surprised U2 is top but I'm glad to see ABC there. I wouldn't say I'm an ABC fan but Lexicon of Love is possibly my favourite album. The whole record works so perfectly it's unlike many other albums which are just singles with lesser-known songs between them. Lexicon of Love has some classic singles of course but the other tracks are even stronger.

I remember buying the album and a year or so later, a video called 'Mantrap' which was a spy/espionage movie which starred the band and showcased the album.

Uno mentions the film too starring the wonderfully named Lisa Vanderpump.
