It confused me when I read on my Velvet Underground CD that John played electric viola. I don't know what bothered me most, a string instrument being electric or the fact that it was a viola not a violin. Anyway, let's imagine for a minute a version of early ELO featuring John Cale. And then let's imagine Discovery era ELO featuring John Cale. It's an interesting vision.
