Despite growing up in the era of the long player when artists (including ELO) made albums to be listened to from start to finish, with the advent of online streaming services I now find myself creating artist playlists and (by choice) listening to them in shuffle mode.
For example, my ELO/Jeff Spotify playlist (which can be found here, if anyone feels like using it: ) contains all the studio albums that Jeff’s produced, solo or in a group, or at least those which are available on Spotify (no Wilburys sadly).
The younger me would be appalled no doubt, but over the decades I’ve listened to these albums in their original form literally hundreds of times each, and in mixing things up I’ve found new appreciation for many tracks, particularly the lesser known ones. I’ve found that the juxtaposition of Idle Race, Move, different-era ELO and Jeff solo often works surprisingly well.
So anyway, how do you listen to ELO these days?

Album form.
Bought the Very Best of ELO - Light Years a month ago. At first I found it a bit jarring hearing Last Train to London followed by Strange Magic, or Twilight to Telephone Line. Getting use to it.

I use my ipod for almost all my music listening nowadays and listen to an album at a time. Still prefer that to playlists or shufle.

Not generally. Sometimes in the car I grab an ELO CD and put it, but normally I prefer to mix all of the songs I like and play them in random/shuffle mode. I love not knowing which song will come up next, and I like mixing songs from different eras.

I listen to Out Of The Blue on vinyl, in it's entirety very frequently -- it puts me in a good mood when I clean the house or do laundry.

I do. And the ones I often listen to all the way through is:
Eldorado A New World Record Out of The Blue
Which coincidentally are my three favorite ELO albums.

If I want to listen to ELO I put an album on. Wilburys I'll pick songs.

I generally play selected tracks now. Very rarely a whole album right through. Option 3 for me then.

The last one for me, I'm sorry Boooo!!! Booooooo!!!! Look, guys, Buttler is a terrible fan, he never listens to whole albums! Let's throw stones at him! Haha, not really. No need to feel sorry at all. Each one listens to ELO they way he wants.

I'm with you Buttler, over the past 15 years or so I've gone from 1 to 4. But who knows, in another 15 years maybe I'll be a 1 again

Started listening to ELO on vinyl many years ago and still do regularly. Nothing beats vinyl!

I generally have my iPod on shuffle, but do regularly listen to ANWR, OOTB and Time as complete albums.

Started listening to ELO on vinyl many years ago and still do regularly. Nothing beats vinyl! I enjoy vinyl too. Besides the sound, there's just something about taking the records out of the covers and feeling that edge of vinyl on the fingers.

Mmm,I love vinyl. I'd forgotten what a treat it is to pick up an LP and just feel the weight of it and see the artwork properly large.
Last option for me though. I'm a big fan of shuffling, my Spotify is all one playlist constantly set to shuffle. It's a treat to hear something like Kuiama pop up after perhaps Ace of Spades or something daft by the Arctic Monkeys. Puts things in perspective a bit. I did find that going back to ELO after a phase of screamy space-rock was like balm to the ears - I never appreciated the smoothness of the sound so much before.
