At last the second and third Wizzard albums are being re-issued on CD with bonus tracks for related A and B sides. These have been really expensive to get on eBay so I have already pre-ordered these from Amazon. I am not sure how much I will enjoy the Rock ‘n’ Roll themed Eddy and the Falcons, but Main Street has some excellent Jazz and blues elements to it.
As a result of learning more of the origins of ELO Over the last few years, I have gone from having no real knowledge of Roy Wood’s music to having all the Move, 70s solo and Wizzard albums. Well worth checking out.
Most interesting, I think I have Eddy and the Falcons on vinyl but I've never heard of Main Street. Does Main Street have classic Wizzard type songs or do the jazz and blues parts take precedence? I wasn't a big fan of when he explored his jazz side in the Wizzo band
It's all good entertainment, it doesn't cost a penny
Main Street does not have the really long noodling jazz like Wizzo, they are mostly melodic songs but with a lounge jazz tint to some, Hendrix style guitars on others or just poppy like Indianna Rainbow. I think it is an excellent album but might take a couple of listens to get used to the different sound compared to earlier Wizzard.
