Just heard of her passing at the age of 103, not a singer that I'd listen to but a British icon through our dark days of WW2. As a child my parents would play songs of hers so I knew a few of her songs and the very first UK chart in 1952 had Vera in it. R.I.P. Vera

What a lady, I've been hearing so many people in the media today with positive memories of her. Despite being such a symbol of everything that's good about Britain, she was down to earth and never refused when invited to appear or perform. And she was able to help celebrate the VE Day anniversary this year too, what a legend. RIP Vera, your work is done and you did it brilliantly
