I think we all have a song on most albums that we think are okay but would quite happily do a swap with one we prefer. One song of ELOs there is a lot of love for is “All my love” on FOON. I really don’t get this song and always skip the track when playing the album. But it seems to be popular with many ELO fans. So who am I to argue. It’s great we have a choice now with all the remastered CDs and double album release of SM.
Edit: My gif of Dorothy in The Wizard Of Oz being shocked did not come through.

Anyway, I think Endless Lies is the best track on BOP, and one of ELO's great moments.
I always loved the line "It's alright, count to ten, it will all be better then." Simple but brilliant.
And the pace change in the song is wonderful. And the merry-go-round music.
God I love this song. Didn't I read somewhere that it was a Roy Orbison themed song? Jeff certainly sings it like Roy...

Yeah, I remember Jeff talking about trying to do Roy in that one. And he succeeded in spades, imho.

I think I recall (and I invite anyone more "factual" than myself to correct me) that Jeff showed it to Orbison and he (Roy) was impressed and said Jeff had done a great work of imitating him.

And he even put "pretty woman" in there too.

I've struggled with this one. From the day of its release I've always thought that BoP suffered from having too many relatively uninspiring tracks in the middle (if you consider it as a CD) so I'm slightly twisting the rules a bit by adding in the JL-produced Tandy/Morgan single, Action!. It's of the same era and certainly has a similar production feel to something like So Serious. That gives me a track listing of:
Side One
Heaven Only Knows (standard version) Getting To The Point Caught In A Trap Is It Alright Calling America
Side Two
Action! Endless Lies (BoP version) So Serious Sorrow About To Fall (alternative version) Destination Unknown
Bonus track on the cassette edition!: Without Someone
