A friend of mine has been discussing with me our record collections and he asked me what my first picture sleeve single and first colour vinyl single were. I thought it was a great question and it got me wondering what all you forum members first bought in your younger days. I will start with my first purchases. Needless to say they were both ELO, surprise surprise!
First colour picture sleeve was Turn to stone. I remember going to my local record store after school and picking it out of the slot and thinking wow this is special. Sat staring at it while it was playing. Sad I know but in those days I was still pointing at planes.
First colour vinyl was, yes you’ve guessed it, Mr blue sky. When I took it out I loved it, holding it up to the light to get the full effect (happy days)
I have a large vinyl collection now, but these two will always be special. I would love to read some of your memories. Thanks for reading this in these worrying times.

My first picture sleeve single was Sweet Talkin’ Woman by a band called ELO.
I’m trying to think of my first coloured vinyl record but can’t remember for sure, it could be Out of the Blue on blue vinyl or ANWR on red as for singles I think the 12” white Shine a Little Love was the first. My first picture disc was ONJ Magic.

Yes the ONJ picture disc looks really well.... wish I had a copy of the withdrawn Xanadu 12” single with ONJ on the front. Put in a cheeky bid for it one time of £250 it went for over £5000.00. But for one day it was mine. So I just lost out!!!

I had a dream the other night that I found a box of those rare Xanadu records under my bed and I was going to give them away to forum members, I woke up and looked but they had disappeared.

My first picture sleeve was Wild West Hero, it was Jeff's lustrous curls and cheeky grin in that picture that made me fall in love with him. First coloured vinyl was I think Sweet Talkin' Woman, a most tasteful shade of purple. I think my first picture disc was Ticket to the Moon.

Ticket to the moon was my first picture disc too. I can remember buying it in Douglas on the Isle of Man. Loved the chairs on the cover of WWH.

My first picture sleeve was a Beatles. I was six! 1964!
The heavy boarded sleeve is all taped up 'cause I didn't take good care of me things when small. Isn't it great ROB is one of the songs!
First color 7"? Has to be a Beatles. Soooooo long ago! Picture disc was Abby Road.

My ELO memories on this one are very clear, my non-ELO recollections, a little hazier!
For ELO, my first single was Evil Woman, first picture sleeve: Turn To Stone, coloured vinyl: Sweet Talkin' Woman - 7" (I'd missed out on MBS but acquired it later) and picture disc: Ticket To The Moon - 12".
Away from ELO, to include other artists, and it's a tricky one. I've an idea that it was Bohemian Rhapsody (just ahead of Evil Woman), Turn To Stone, Wonderous Stories (Yes) - 12" and Tubular Bells (Mike Oldfield) - LP, respectively.

I bought PJ and Duncan's 'Tonight I'm Free' with it's picture/poster sleeve from Woolies in the 90s. I don't know why I bought it, I didn't even like the song. It was in the bargain bin.
Eldorado is probably the only coloured vinyl I have.
