BBC Radio 6 Music replayed the ANWR episode of its Classic Albums series last night... The whole network is really building up its support of ELO this weekend, but what is the culmination of this? An announcement on Monday during the same breakfast show that premiered FOON just a few months ago? Although it would be technically a day late, that could also be the ideal window to launch 50th anniversary celebration plans and reach the largest possible audience. Maybe something in November, with more to follow next year? It's just a matter of time before we find out!

Forgive me if I'm behind the curve on this but ShardEnder is dropping not so subtle hints lol about a time double album release with out takes and demos in November? And the launch of an anniversary promotion in whatever form for next year. This is huge news! Why is this all so low key?

You would think Jeff’s social media pages would give a heads up to listen to Radio Two at a particular time, that’s what normally happens.
However his pages on Facebook still list all the tour dates and the main splash on the one page is for the tour which was cancelled some months ago, so not much updating seems to be going on.

If they did a re-issue, what would the track listing be for Time ?

I wish we were still in the Eighties. When things seemed so uncomplicated. It's been thirty-nine years Since Time first appeared. A re-issue now does seem shady.

So, these hints we are getting in this thread....do some forum members actually have an "in" on this stuff? I agree that the lack of hints on Jeff's official pages is not encouraging. I'm not holding my breath for tomorrow.

The problem with sharing all these hints of what's coming is that one of my contacts within Sony more recently suggested that the company's plans for Q4 2020 might have been pushed back three months. However, it's undeniable that other fans have noticed BBC Radio playing more ELO than usual over this weekend, including a repeat of the Classic Albums episode covering A New World Record yesterday. Either all this is leading up to the originally scheduled announcement (due in just a few short hours on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show), or someone didn't get the memo that everything has been delayed. While I do agree that the lack of activity from Jeff's online outlets is a little concerning, it wouldn't be much of a surprise if there was even a trace of anything relating to the #ELO50 campaign before this officially launched. On the other hand, how do you get anyone to keep an ear tuned for an announcement if they don't know it's coming? Let's just wait and see if the actual 50th anniversary of ELO's first studio activity passes us by without some kind of celebration...

Forgive me if I'm behind the curve on this but ShardEnder is dropping not so subtle hints lol about a time double album release with out takes and demos in November? Time will be restored to its originally intended double album form, but it won't have any bonus tracks, and it won't be arriving in November. Based on the plans I'd been made aware of, the 2LP Time 40th Anniversary Legacy Deluxe Edition will launch in early July, though some outtakes from those sessions will be part of a career-spanning set designed as an upgrade to Flashback, itself a replacement for Afterglow, which should give you an idea of the format we can expect. Both of those were released in November, and Flashback served as a preview of the 2001-7 remaster campaign. Sony and Jeff like November - it's a good month to drop something fans will lap up, while also making whatever surfaces the ideal stocking filler. In addition to all this, the classic run of 1971-86 are to be reissued in vinyl and BSCD2 forms based on the 2015 remasters, which have yet to see physical release, and these will also be made available in a box that is apparently going to contain a bonus disc of previously unheard rarities spanning from the very first ELO recording all the way through to the BOP sessions. Finally, it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that Jeff has been keeping himself busy lately. Zoom dropped right in the middle of the 30th anniversary celebrations, and repeating that formula seems like a great idea. Again, all of this could change, though I'd rather let everyone know what may be happening than keep them completely in the dark. Just consider that plans do change, especially at the moment.

There's a thread for "originally intended double album form" for Time, right? (He asked, because his searching skills resemble his limerick skills.)

I sure hope that whenever the Time Double Album comes out, it's not a snoozer like that 35th Anniversary Secret Messages, in vinyl only, with the cheap white paper holders, minimal comments from His Jeffness, missing a song, and with some dubious segues. (See how much I learned?!)

Rob Caiger was very annoyed with how the 35th anniversary edition of Secret Messages turned out - he'd spent years proposing various expanded packages, only for Sony to slip out that relatively disappointing version the second his back was turned. He hasn't said much about this yet, but he really wants to make up for that by ensuring that Time gets a more deserving treatment, which included visiting the owner of those acetates to see what could be added. Jeff has never spoken about anything from this album being an embarrassment on the level of Beatles Forever, so we should get everything. Now, whether that includes the originally intended artwork and anything like new liner notes remains to be seen, though I'm optimistic...
