At least they are trying, tremblinwilbury! Ah, to tell the sad truth, shopping to "Evil Woman" was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and the reason I filmed it was that I was almost in disbelief. 99% of the time my local supermarket would play Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande or Becky G -you almost have to be happy if you get some Taylor Swift, go figure!

Memories of a time, not so very long ago...
Please God we don't go back to those days... We haven't got the 'all clear' yet though...

Something rather topical at the moment - well, in the UK, anyway "Say tatty-bye to your Granny..."

Argentina: we are proud of having the longest ....... in the world. Complete that phrase with whichever word comes to your mind, and it will probably be correct, at least in our arrogant, self-centered, narcissistic conception of the world. And if the word that came to your mind is "quarantine", it's also correct: we now have the longest quarantine in the world, and counting. As a big majority of the countries -including Southern Hemisphere countries, and even neighbours of us- are trying to open up things, here they are using the quarantine as an excuse for their own purposes and making it tighter. Now: - From Saturday on we won't be allowed to use cars at all unless you have a special permit issued by the government. It doesn't matter if you are 3 blocks away from home, if they catch you the fines are huge and even cars will be confiscated. My parents were stopped yesterday 10 blocks away from home, treated as criminals and finally let go because my mother had to take care of my uncle who is mentally challenged, but "since next Saturday it will be very different". - Cyberpatrolling: a minister admitted that they were hiring political supporters and assigning them to wander around social media "to monitor the social mood". Posts questioning the government are already being taken down. A friend of mine is on their blacklist apparently, because every post he makes against the government is down in no more than 15 minutes. All of this because "it's not a moment where people should be exposed to false information". - Working: about half the country is not being allowed to work. 70 days already, and we are not a rich country where people have the financial back to bear such a long time without any income. Some people are opening all the same because they don't have a choice, risking fines and closures. And courts are still closed, so the ones who live from law-related activities like myself are among the screwed. I am officially living off lent money now. The only courts working -and really fast- are those in charge of vicepresident Cristina Kirchner's many corruption trials: they are dismissing all cases. - There were protests against the way this whole quarantine travesty is being used; the government says that they have identified the protesters ("we know who you are") and will take measures, even though the protests were made from cars and with chinstraps. - Non-politician citizens are only allowed to buy US$ 200 per month, and to do it by any means which is not a bank operation is illegal. Soon they will forbid buying dollars at all. In a country with such demential inflation, buying dollars is the only way to keep your purchasing power, and not being able to do it makes us all poorer by the day. - And ( don't miss this because it's surreal!) we are being forced to install on our cell phones an app that the government made that monitors us 24/7, including sending continual geolocation data. It's closed-source/code so you cannot know how what it really does, but an investigation group found that it does triangulation with other cell phones that have that app, so they can know not only when and where you've been but also with whom. The app is supposed to let you know if you get Covid by repeating every day the same 4 questions (like "do you have fever? Do you suffer cough?"), but you have to answer to those questions daily and the answer is sent to the government as an affidavit/sworn statement under the threat of undetermined punishments if any of the answers is not exact. The terms and conditions "agreement" (which you are forced to "agree" with since having the app is mandatory) says that new functions may be added at any moment without warning, all under closed source so you never know what the app is doing. It's like something out of Big Brother, the Leviatan or 1984, a true cyber ankle monitor. Luckily a lot of people are refusing to install such a thing, me among them. And these rats are just getting started. The worse is yet to come. So I'm telling you, spoiled people: don't forget to defend your freedom. It's much easier to do it while you still have it. You take your freedom for granted and even like to flirt with liberticide politicians thinking it's romantic but I bet when push comes to shove each and every one of you would totally hate being forced to swallow the things we have to swallow regularly in our daily lives in some third world countries. And learn to identify scammers. They always come waving the same flags: "solidarity", "sensitivity", "the poor", "redistribution" and other emotional speeches. It all leads to the same: Venezuela. And no matter what you say in your café conversations in your free, prosperous countries, I bet you'd all hate to live in Venezuela -or in any country that has advanced considerably in that direction. Rant over.
So sorry to hear that my friend.
The Coronavirus pandemic has been a totally disaster...

Buttler : sorry to hear that too, caro amico. Italy didn't seem to be in the favour of the gods lately, but of all the things that happened recently this must be the hardest you guys were hit. Hope things go gradually improving and in a couple of years this is just a bad memory.

Buttler , we're just slow learners over here January - it's just a Chinese problem, they don't have good hospitals, they eat weird things, there are just so many people in such a small place, white people don't seem to catch it like Asians do, it's just the flu, ... February - well it's just a few cases, if we don't let them off the cruise ship they don't count, the Center for Disease Control is on top of it, ... early March - well, the Italians may have a problem but they're all old, they smoke, so many generations live together that it spreads faster, they hug too much late March - it's just a New York City problem, too many people in too small a space, the subways, all those foreign people there, it won't come to my town ... April - it's a media hoax, even if it is real it will disappear when Summer comes, only old people catch it, you can't make me wear a mask!, you can't tell me how to run my business!, this is just a liberal political trick ... May - the Chinese didn't tell us, the World Health Organization didn't tell us, "I knew it was a pandemic before they said it was a pandemic", anyone that wants a test can get a test, the tests are beautiful, and if the tests don't work it's Obama's fault, if everyone would just take this quinine stuff, that's what I told Brazil - take quinine, hydroxy-quinine, or bleach, disinfect yourself June - mission accomplished, we're reopening, more people die from a bad economy than the virus, look at the places with lots of cases - all Democrats in charge, it's because we test too much, millions want to come to my rally! we don't need 6 foot spacing or masks ... July - what do you mean only 30% of the seats are taken? what do you mean my own people are sick? fire somebody!, oh - we set a new daily record?, terrific - let's set off some fireworks, should we let people vote by mail to avoid spreading the virus? no, can't trust people, make them wait in long lines, we don't want them voting anyway, look at the stock market - everything is ok, it's still just a flu, most people have probably already had it and don't even know it, should we test more then?, no, no whatever you do don't test more, less testing, I told them less testing! at this rate, we are going to be totally on top of things any day now and there'll be a vaccine soon, right?
