Hi everyone, Since we practically have the completed Secret Messages album now, save for Beatles Forever, it did make me wonder how this album could've been improved back in 1983 as a single album. What would your track list have been and why? You can include any of the original 18 tracks, any of the secret message interludes (including the unreleased "we never say anything bad" one if you can imagine what it even is), and the 1982 Flashback tracks "Tears in Your Life," "Helpless" and "Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor." Also, it'd be wise to account for vinyl side lengths.
SIDE 1 1. Secret Messages (with the intro to "Loser Gone Wild" cutting just before the brass) 2. Bluebird 3. Stranger ("You're playing me backwards" intro) 4. Take Me On and On
SIDE 2 1. Buildings Have Eyes ("Plant a tree" outro) 2. Danger Ahead ("Listen to the music" but "We never say anything bad" if applicable) 3. Endless Lies ("Moving right along" outro) 4. After All ("Thank you for listening" outro) 5. Hello My Old Friend ("Welcome to the show" outro)
I feel these songs sound the most like other ELO albums, and probably would've made the transition from Time to Secret Messages smoother. I am interested to hear your takes on it with the given criteria!

Horacewimp: We are all good thanks, just wishing I could go on a foreign holiday, it’s just not worth the risk with Covid and the possibility of a 14 day quarantine, we may do some short breaks in the U.K.
