There is a new tribute band in the Philadelphia area that are choosing to call themselves “Electric Lynne Orchestra”. I wonder what Jeff thinks of that? Will they get a cease and desist letter from Jeff’s legal team?
They do represent themselves as a “tribute band” and make no claims to have any connection to the original. Their web site says they are filling an almost total void of ELO tribute bands in the mid-Atlantic region.
That may come as a surprise to The Orchestra- most of whom live within a few hours of Philly.
Friday night will see a battle of the ELO bands with Parthenon playing in Vienna, Virginia and Electric Lynne Orchestra playing 25 miles away in Leesburg, Virginia.

Excuse the French, but what an absolute clusterfuck.
70 year old and still in the huff cos he perceives a mate tried to steal his band name.
I really couldn't be arsed to hold a grudge with anyone for that long.
I love Jeff's music but he come across as an insecure buffoon at times.

I suppose the one tiny bit of hope that we can take from this is the fact that Jeff allowed the question to be asked in the first place, normally questions like these are off limits to the interviewer. Could Jeff be mellowing? nope.... I think Jeff's PR team makes sure before he talks to Mojo, Rolling Stone and the big UK and US mags that no questions about Bev are permitted. Now I think they didn't see it coming, talking to a Swedish journalist. So they probably let it slide.

I love Jeff's music but he come across as an insecure buffoon at times. People change. Pretty much like John Lennon was one before Yoko Ono and a completely different guy after her, Jeff seems to have been one before his first wife (was she called Cindy, or how?) and a completely different person after her.

I can't believe people still think/hope there will ever be a reconciliation. Jeff & Bev have had nothing to do with each other for twice as long as they played together and even more in the case of other members of the so called "magnificent 7". I'm not knocking anyone involved (I wasn't there) - I know people have their dreams but in reality, it's never going to happen.

It`s pretty strange that Jeff Lynne can bear a grudge for so long. He should compare for once how much he earned between 1970 and 1986 as a writer and producer of E.L.O. and how much Bev earned (and other band members) during this period. The difference is no doubt huge. Kelly Groucutt dragged Jeff to court for a reason and got paid a decent amount of money (although they officially settled out of court, if I`m right, but became persona non grata in Jeff`s view afterwards): Jeff saw the band members as employees (which would be o.k.) but payed them rather poorly. Don`t get me wrong: I don`t begrudge Jeff Lynne the many millions he earned (I even pay the horrendous ticket price for the next show in Munich without thinking twice), but he obviously didn`t treat his fellow band members fairly. So I think it was absolutely o.k. that Bev went out with ELO, Part II for a few years and earned a little extra money. I mean, Bev did not go to court, which he could have done, and looking at Kelly`s case it`s highly probable that he also would have been granted a serious amount of money then. So I don`t know why Jeff is so irreconcilable with Bev. Just like Richard Tandy he is (or rather was) one of his oldest pals from his youth and I personally don`t see where Bev did anything wrong.

I suppose that some things are a matter of public record (court case, some interviews ) but other than internet talk about " he did this", "he said that", "he did/didn't write/play that", "he's got a grudge because of..." etc nobody other than those individuals know exactly what happened. The rest is all guess work by others. We'll never know the definitive answer to 99% of all that guess work and I don't see that anyone in the general fanbase can say with any degree of certainty how any of the individuals concerned felt then and feel now.
It is what it is - of course everyone is entitled to their opinion but I don't see why it bothers people so much.

I think its because (for me anyway)folks, especially on here have invested so much of their lives, time and money for this band so of course we care what happens.

In terms of the paid employees stuff, I'd be surprised if Jeff had much of a say. Don Arden called the shots and probably took a fair slice himself. I'm sure there's a tale of Jeff not having enough money to fix his van to get to a gig.... In 1982!!!

How do you know how much the band members were paid? And if I am not mistaken, Jeff didn't pay them - Don Arden and the management did. Exactly how each and every members contract was arranged, no one knows, outside each party. As far as I know. But it would of course be interesting to get more info.

I wonder if Bev will elaborate more in his forthcoming autobiography?

I also heard that Bev is working on an auto biography, I wonder when it will be published? I messaged Bev on Facebook just over a week ago asking him if he was writing a new book and when it was likely to come out......I’ve not received a reply
