I'm into 'ANWR' at the moment too, nothing beats driving along on a sunny day, windows down and 'So Fine' blasting out and imagining that I'm on the Pacific coast highway (in reality I'm on a local 'b' road in an industrialised northern town )

Having left the LP in the LP case in the loft for years, I had forgotten all about On the Third Day until I accessed it on Spotify the other week. How is it that Dreaming of 4000 had passed me by for all those years (last heard about 1979)? Superb stuff.
And New World Rising.
And Bev giving it some rice on In the Hall of the Mountain King.

Can't say I've been listening to much ELO (or music in general ) since university has started back up so it's taken a while to get a fresh set of faves... - When Time Stood Still - Ballbuster Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor - Telephone Line

I'm not sure that I'd exactly consider these 'current faves' but I recently binged the discography and found new appreciation for a few tracks:
- From the Sun to the World - Whisper In the Night and the one I never imagined I'd be putting on a list like this... - Letter From Spain

Secret Messages double album version has many current faves because I'm immersed in it while I write the trilogy. The process of translating emotion in music to emotion on the page is challenging, yet fulfilling. Because SM Isn't a true concept album and lacks a story, I have constructed a plot that account for the actions of the characters in the songs and why they would be feeling and acting the way they do. "Four Little Diamonds" in particular took on new meaning when I realized it didn't have to be about a ring.
I took a break from SM and listened to Time with headphones. There are so many little treats you don't hear through the speakers.
Like that voice in the right channel that's a fraction of a second behind the main vocal in the left channel in "From the End of the World." I'd never noticed that before. It's so effective in giving the song an emotional edge. There are multiple backward string insertions that are easy to miss off headphones. The Time album is spectacular. Brian Paone's novel Yours Truly 2095 was what inspired me to write, but I wish I could have taken a crack at turning this masterpiece of a tone poem into a book. It's not a good practice to repeat the work of others. I never heard of a "cover version" of a book. LOL.
