The class of '77 along with Louis go on tour with Out Of The Blue. Like Horace said in another thread, Jeff and the others are NOT getting any younger so please pick up the bloody phone and just say 'hi,hello' whatever! just get in touch and see where it leads. If any of Jeffs team reads this forum, they will see the love that we (and the rest of the world) have for the band and their history. What is it going to take for them to get in contact? Please Jeff, don't take this bitterness to your grave.... Timeblue - here's a song for that sentiment - if only our favorite lineup from '77 could have stayed together forever I think they had this one in the set list when they opened for Jeff in 2018? Late night drives and hot french fries and friends around the country From Charlottesville to good old Santa Fe When I think of you, you still got on that hat that says let's party I hope that thing is never thrown away I hope that life without a chaperone is what you thought it'd be I hope your brother's El Camino runs forever I hope the world sees the same person that you've always been to me And may all your favorite bands stay together Now I'm just waking up and I'm not thinking clearly so don't quote me Of what I hope when I'm writing you this song Ain't it funny how some people pop into your head so easily I haven't seen you in there for so long I hope that life without a chaperone is what you thought it'd be I hope your brother's El Camino runs forever I hope the world sees the same person that you always were to me And may all your favorite bands stay together I hope that life without a chaperone is what you thought it'd be I hope your brother's El Camino runs forever I hope the world sees the same person that you always were to me And may all your favorite bands stay together

I'd love to see Richard back behind the piano and a Glasgow show with a very different set list.

I'd love to see Richard back behind the piano and a Glasgow show with a very different set list. A different set list? There's more chance of a reunion than new songs......

Unfortunately if there's tour in 2020, and other than a couple of stadium gigs, I don't think there will be. It's going to be the hits, hits and more hits.

My ELO wish for 2020 is that all band members, past and present, remain healthy and productive.

I just want Jeff to bring out some kind of book, preferably an autobiography.
Also, I'd like a Tandy/Lynne acoustic concert.
I don't have much more in the way of opinions pertaining to the RARHOF episode other than the fact that as I'm not a fan of the idea of the Hall of Fame as a marker a band's success it's a pretty meaningless exercise to me. Therefore the fact that ELO's induction might have emphasised any problems the band might have behind the scenes makes me feel that it was the wrong place to question their harmony. Now, if it was something worthy like - I don't know - some kind of musical Oscar then that might be the correct situation to question band drama. The RARHOF is an odd honour and many people have failed to turn up over the years so I'm not too bothered about the degree to which ELO is divided based on this ceremony.
On the other hand if we do look at the Hall of Fame as an actual honour worth noting then maybe all the band should have been there as any honour is a good thing.
I suppose it just depends on how each artist views the ceremony and the respect they give the induction.

Not sure this is the place - I should say I don't hold much away with the honours system but given Elton John being made a Companion of Honour i'm surprised our musical hero hasn't got anything. I am aware of course he might have declined any honours.

For example, it's believed that the other members of Fleetwood Mac had put considerable pressure on the Hall to ensure that virtually everyone else who had played with the group in its early years except Bob Welch should be mentioned, and in ELO's case, I'm fairly certain Jeff would have at least approved - if not outright suggested - the decision to only recognise its three co-founders, plus Richard, (...). It was so sad. After Bob's death, I remember perfectly how we fans were really disgusted with the decision of keeping him apart. His widow Wendy kept so active writing about the need to induct Bob into the R&RHOF. He was a very important part of the "Pre-Rumours" era! His work was really amazing, and after his departure, he had contact with the other members, even Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. But something happened on the road to the 90s...
But returning to ELO, my wish is health to our dear members -from the past and the present-, and of course to you, dear members of this forum!! It's really sad to know that Hugh is gone, and Kelly died almost 11 years ago, and I didn't read anything about the 10 years of his passing -tell me if I'm wrong-. And of course, at least for me, it's sad to know that there's nothing between Jeff and the past members, just for those ELO Part II/Orkestra/Orchestra/Orquesta and stuff issues, even with Mel ...I read some of your comments here about how Bev and Mik became "not so well people" because of this reason, so my hope is to see at least any contact between them. And of course, I'm really hoping for a great greatest hits, were I can listen not only the hits but also some of the not so popular songs...
Happy New Year everybody!!!!

Prediction- 2020 will be the year that we see a mini ELO reunion with Jeff, Bev, and possibly Richard. Not a concert tour or anything, but a one off charity type show.

I wish Jeff would work on songs he wrote in the '70s and '80s and he decided to discard back then.

You're probably referring to the first of two homecoming shows Jeff played in April 2016... My ever-reliable contact* revealed there had been negotiations behind the scenes between members of a certain local supergroup that had planned on appearing as a surprise unannounced opening act for ELO. However, it seems as if Roy backed away from talks at the very last minute when it came to his attention that Bev had jumped the gun and booked a small number of dates with Trevor Burton as The Move, looking to use this brief tour as his way of marking the band's 50th anniversary over what I'm sure would have proved a far more high profile if relatively short-lived celebration. However, that didn't stop Roy from being spotted in the audience of the aforementioned April 16 concert along with Dave Morgan and all three of Jeff's original colleagues in The Idle Race, plus a few of his relatives. Saying that, another person I've spoken to suggested it was actually The Idle Race looking to make a surprise appearance that day, but there were no such barriers to this happening. Following some negative and very public comments from Roy indicating his disapproval of the idea, Bev doubled down by confirming further Move activity, though Trevor soon dropped out because of ill health, forcing a renaming to The Bev Bevan Band for legal reasons not a million miles from the troubles that plagued ELO Part II before this had to rebrand as The Orchestra. With all this still fresh in the minds of everyone involved, Roy issued an ultimatum that stated he wouldn't show up for ELO's subsequent induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame if Bev was there. I'm sure Roy being on stage with Jeff again took priority, even if Bev had initially posted on his social media accounts and given his indication during interviews that he fully planned on also attending such an important occasion. Anyway, it wasn't long until Bev announced yet more tour dates, quickly insisting that this was always his plan despite considerable evidence to the contrary existing. In reality, I get the feeling it wasn't hard for everyone else to force him out when there were so many previous reasons to cite, and we didn't even get to see a reunion of the other three members being inducted that day, since Jeff performed with his touring group, Roy only gave a speech, and Richard had already been forced to drop out of the public eye as a result of his ongoing medical issue. What could have been, eh? *This is the same source who told me very specific details about From Out Of Nowhere months before the rest of the world knew anything, so I've no reason to doubt the validity of their claims. Besides, it's not the first (or last) insider information they've given me. To me,the whole RRHOF saga was a disaster. What should have been a glorious reunion of sorts turned out to be a public relations cock up. Yes,Bev didn't do himself any favours by what he did but he had far more right to be there than Roy who contributed very little to the ELO story. To the world it seemed that ELO were getting their recognition but to the true fans it was a badly handled mess and embarrassing to watch (in my eyes anyway) It really bugs me that my favourite bands - Kiss and ELO - both manages to f••• up their RARHOF induction ceremonies.
